Does it shift easily with the engine off? Then with engine running, the gears clash? Then either your clutch disc is needing replacement or the clutch pedal hydraulic system needs attention. Look on the transmission bell housing where the slave cylinder mounts (assuming it is hydraulic, and not cable operated). A small rod extends from the slave cylinder when clutch pedal is pressed, and moves the clutch fork a small amount- about an inch or more.

If the slave does not move the clutch fork, check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder on the firewall. If it is full, you may have a bad clutch master cylinder or a bad slave cylinder. Open the bleed valve on the slave. If fluid streams out when the clutch is pressed, it could still be the master that leaks internally under pressure, but try a different slave cylinder first. It is much cheaper than the master cylinder.

'95 Tacoma 5speed no 3rd or 4th gear. It feels like it goes in but there is nothing there, it's as if in neutral in those gears.

Make sure that the shifting lever is not restricted and not allowing the gears to engage. Other than that, sounds like you have an internal transmission problem.

Hi there 2003 Nissan liberty not changing gear checked transport fluid and topped it up still not changing any ideas

can you shift it manually? I'm sure if it has a transmison sensor on it can call a auto part store and look it up. Might try that

How would you get a stripped fill plug off a 5speed geo tracker gearbox?

if its a gear box plug, you can tack weld a nut to the plug and remove the plug via the nut. It is far enough away from components to not get damaged by heat. If you dont have a welder then try using JB weld and a nut. If the plug is for a ratchet then use a bolt instead of a nut. Purchase new plug.

I have a 5speed manual transmission and it sounds as if the gears are grinding while driving in all gears. The transmission shifts ok, and does not slip, just makes the noise. Can the gears be out of...

The clutch needs an adjustment. What's happening is the clutch isn't completely engaging while you shift, causing the grinding. Once properly adjusted, the grinding will disappear.

My 95 nissan maxima shifts hard from first to second then shifts good the rest of the gears

Look into issues with the throttle position sensor, i had the same problem with a 95 se. The sensor is directly responsible for shift intervals as it gives the ecm throttle position which doesnt go hand and hand with rpm. Sometimes the sensor needs adjustment, however this is not recommended if you dont have a scan tool to reset your ecm. check this page out

92 toyota camry 5speed

it sounds like you ground the spacers between the gears. have a look under the gear shift. pull the gear shift off then look at the transmission spacers. you will see where the gear shift sits see if some spacers look like the rest.

1991 sentra, manual 5speed, hard to find reverse and 5th

It's one of these things. 1) You need secranizers for the gears you mentioned.(might as well put in a new Transmission) 2) The throw-out bearing is bad.3) The clutch is not ingauging enough for the gears to not want to go into smoothly.
Best Of Luck,

P.S. I reread your information again. If it changes well out of the car then I would think it is the clutch itself causing the shifting issues.
