I got a 2003 ducati 620 and I have tried to start it and all that happens Is the gauge cluster goes thru its normal routine and the fuel pump primes i push the start button and i get nothing

I would start checking the main use leaving from the battery

check the fuel filter or for pinched fuel lines.

new fuel filter even if the 1 on it is new

hm ... let's see ... first the standard disclaimer - I haven't ridden a 620 myself - so take this FWIW 1. Slipping & chattering clutch @ 3-4k does not sound normal. What it could be, I dunno. 2. I haven't run into that either, but I believe it may be the case, unless you're an enterprising wrench. I wouldn't think it to be a big deal, but I'll bet the only way you're going to find out what bulb it is is by taking it apart. 5 gets you 10 that any Ducati 'fiche only shows it as a whole unit - in which case they're not going to know what bulb to get, and they're not going to want to tear it apart. (As for the P.O., if it's under warranty, that's how I'd fix it, too). Same goes for the handlebar controls - I had a horn button spring break or dislodge - and according to Ducati, I could only order the whole unit - for +$400. So, score one for ebay 3. Cables could always stand to be lubed, IMO. But it could be something sticky in the grip, or a snatch somewhere in the cable guide - starting with the grip itself. 4. Can't think of anything, besides the usual stuff. My suggestion? Since this sounds like a private sale, if you really want this bike, have him take down to the dealer and let them give you an opinion of it. Make sure to mention those issues. If it's the same dealer, ask them (privately) what they know of its history. Ask for service receipts/history from the owner.

with the rev's just above idle all was well. When I took the rev's up to 3000-4000 for a faster start the clutch slipped and chattered. The owner said All Ducatis do that. I'm sure a 999 doesn't, but is this normal for a 620? (I weigh 165 lbs.) 2. The owner said a light had gone out in the instrument cluster (I believe either the tack or speedo) and the entire gauge was replaced under warranty. He said that's the only way to replace a burned out light in these gauges. Is he correct? 3. The throttle from idle seemed to have a lot of resistance before it would move at all, then it would move smoothly. Cable just needs lubing? Normal? 4. Anything specific to 620's that I should check, that pretty regulary goes out and would be a substantial cost to fix? The bike rode sweet. The high, wide handlebars and 2 cylinder, air-cooled motor reminded me of a Buell. The front brakes are awesome. My wife is looking to replace her 2000 Ninja 250 with this bike.
