Hi D"Jesus:
Could be one of three things that I can think of:
1) The battery is at the end of its life. It can't hold a charge any more. Solution is to replace battery.
2) The electical system is not charging. You can check this with a voltmeter. With the engine off you will get maybe 12.2 volts. With the engine running it should increase by 1 to 2 volts.
3) The bike is not getting used much and something is draining the electrical system. Not too probable, but maybe you've wired in a stereo and left it playing? Kidding. But an example of a drain on the battery.
Personally, I'd be betting on the dead battery.
Hope this helps.

I have an 04 Honda Sabre 1100 that does the same thing. If the rain is steady, it will actually die. After you come to a stop, it will start right away and run ok for a little while until you get up to speed in the rain and will die again. Very frustrating. Can't see any shorting when viewing in dark conditions. Bike shop also couldn't figure anything out. Any ideas?
If I figure anything out, I'll repost what worked for me.

Battery light comes on and off then kills my car

might be due to the battery being bad and may need replacement but if the battery is holding a charge then it might be due to a short out in some place

Can't start my Honda CB400-Four 1997. Battery seems to be ok. Could it be the Regulator/Rectifier? It has been lying up over the winter. It did start a couple of weeks ago, cut out and hasn't

if the headlight dies right out when you crank the motor then the battery is usually dead. It may read on a voltmeter that it has 12 volts but that does not necessarily mean the battery is charged.Have the battery checked and charged properly then try and start the bike again.Regards

Bought 18 yr. old grandson his first bike about 3 weeks ago (I'm his grandma). It is a used 2009 HD 883 Sportster. Only had 285 miles on it. First clue to troubles: The first day he rode it, his father...

Yes the brakes will work if the bike does so you can take a breath of relief because there is no brake booster it is just hydraulic pressure from the hand and foot switch. What i think may be happening with this bike is a faulty regulator rectifier. This will cause the battery to die with the key off AND it will also cause the battery not to charge correctly when the bike is running. It may hold a charge but will not charge further. What this unit will do is keep the voltage consistent from the alternator charge.

'79 CB 750 won't start back up after running for a while

I would take the bike and or the battery to Sears or any large auto parts store and let them test the condition of the battery and the chargeing system. They will do it for free.Bike batterys seem to only last 2 or 3 years.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you checked the 30 Amps main fuse and its holder clips? It would be integrated with the starter relay. The fuse or the fuse holder may have heat related problem(s) causing it to loose conductivity when hot.The fuse may require replacement even if it tests good and/or the fuse holder would need cleaning / crimping. To locate the starter relay (main fuse), follow the battery cable from the + terminal of the battery.

Please postback results.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Bad battery

Don't rely on on whether the bike will start at a gas station to determine if the charging system is working. Get the multimeter out and do a proper test. Should be getting about 14.5 volts @ around 3K RPM. It's too easy of a test to to just skip. If it is charging then start looking for something else. Was the new battery properly charged to begin with? Loose battery connection? I suppose the GPS could be too much but you said that it was dying last november, so I would suspect something else. P.S. you need a properly charged battery to get an accurate reading for the charging test.
