I could very well be the TPS throttle position sensor acting up. I had a very similar situation on a 99 Concorde with the same engine in it in my shop today. Go to a shop that is able to do a data stream on the engine. What it is, is they hook up a scanner and have the ability to watch all the sensors as the car starts/runs.

SOURCE: Vehicle stalls sometimes
could be either the cam sensor or crank sensor , but I would check the crank sensor first , this sensor will not cause a check engine light either

I have seen this before on VAG engines, they use a dual mass flywheel, this typr of flywheel can move anti clockwise and clockwise to take up initial impact of clutch use. It is spring loaded to return to central but sometimes can be slightly out. This means the crank sensor will intermittantly not get a signal hence no start. Next time you get the problem put the car in gear and rock back and forth (this can free up a sticking dual mass, then try starting again.
This is an interesting one, keep me posted.
