Hi Berry, good news the usual suspects live right underneath the top transmission cover. But before you get to the inside check out the outside where the shift lever connects to the shifter pawl shaft. If it has a lot of slop it needs to be tighten, if thats ok remove the top cover and inspect the shifter pawl for a broken spring or misalignment. Shift trans into third gear and watch the movement of the pawl hooks to the shifter cam pins as you slightly raise and lower the shift pedal. The distance of freeplay and spring pressure should be equal to within .010" there is an adjusting screw with a jam nut on the outside of the gear box by the shift lever, loosen jam nut and adjust as necessary. If it still won't go into second you could have cam follower issues, bent and or worn shifting forks, ect. At this point depending on your mechanical ability you can either purchase factory service manual, which is the best tool you will ever buy for your motorcycle, and proceed forward or you can take it to your local dealer or reputable shop and let them fix it. Decisions decisions. Good luck

Why is the Neutral light blinking on my 2000 dyan lowrider.?

It sounds like a faulty switch but could also be wear, looseness and play in the shift drum, however if your shifting is normal it is likley the switch.
