SOURCE: engine runs, but it will not rev up past 2000-3000 rpms,

are you turning the choke off after its warmed up? most will not run with the choke on and warmed up.

also try running it with the gas cap open to see if you have a vent issue in your tank. if air can't get in, then gas can't flow.

if not a choke or vent issue, then try this. turn the petcock off and then disconnect the fuel lines one at a time going into the carb. start with carb fuel line #1 disconnected (and the rest connected) and in a coffee can, turn petcock on and ignition too. fuel pump should come on momentarily and inject some fuel. see how the quantity looks. reconnect the line to carb #1 and repeat for carbs #2 - #4. your looking for a decrease in fuel to a couple of cylinders.

if all looks fine, i would then focus on the carb floats & jets. have the carbs been off for a good cleaning lately? modern fuel breaks down quickly and could cause a gumming condition in the carbs. spraying the sea foam or carb cleaner into the carbs is bypassing the everything in the carb bowl (but it means the spark plugs are ok) so there could be an obstruction. i would look there first.

if uncomfortable removing the bank of carbs, you can try a quick fix first. with the petcock closed, open the drain screws of each carb and let the gas drain out. go and buy some yamaha carb cleaner (liquid in a black bottle) at a yamaha motorcycle dealer. mix it in a separate container with gas as recommended. close the drain screws on each carb. pour the mixture into each fuel line feeding the carb and let it sit overnight. DO NOT POUR THIS MIXTURE INTO YOUR TANK. its not a fuel additive, but a cleaner that will not harm orings or gaskets, but it will not ignite with a spark plug. open the drain screws the next morning and let the mixture pour out. reconnect the fuel lines to the carbs and test drive it.

if that didn't work, then removing the carbs for a good cleaning is my next step. good luck.

SOURCE: bike bogs for second then revs when throttling

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

Pull the slide out of the carb and then move the clip on the jet needle down one notch. Two may be needed but start with one.

SOURCE: 2004 Honda Shadow Aero stalls

There seems to be low gas level in the float chamber of the carburator.
Clean the carburator and check the float level and reset.
With the choke 'on' and if you hit the throttle it will die because there is a restriction of the air flow to the carburator.

If timing belt is off can it cause a pulsing in the revs

If by "off" you mean that you suspect that the camshaft is out of time with the crankshaft by one tooth the answer is probably no. Most engines won't even run with camshaft timing off by a tooth. Or they will run with extremely rough idle and very low power. And the ignition timing will be almost impossible to adjust.

If by "off" you mean the timing belt is not on the engine, the answer is no. Engine won't start without a timing belt. But you do run a near 100% chance of causing severe engine damage if you attempt to crank the engine without a timing belt.

If by "pulsing in the revs" you mean that the engine seems to be running fairly smoothly but it will rev at normal idle then occassionally rev higher for a second or two, I would suspect your Throttle Position Sensor. This tells the engine what the throttle is doing. If the sensor is erratic the engine's computer will improperly think that the throttle has been depressed. A TPS is not terribly expensive and is very easy to remove and install.

Troubleshooting moto guzzi stone

Just a thought as you asked...sounds like a poor throttle position potentiometer ... throttle cabled to butterfly most likely and if ECU dosen't know throttle plate moved you will see this symptom . If electric throttle , can you see(hear) plate moving whilst twisting , if so measure resistance/voltage on pot. . I do not know if resistance of position sensor can be measured while twisting throttle or pushing plate (bike off , battery disconnected or ignition off)

My honda cb750f will not run without the choke being out

Vacuum leak.

Check all mating surfaces, any place where a vacuum line attaches, with a short spray of carb cleaner while running, when you find the leak, it will smooth out and speed up on it's own. And if EGR equipped- make sure the EGR is closing fully when cold and when hot at idle.

I have a 2010 kx250f it runs mint but today it would no start i kick it over like 30 time and befor it took 1 kick now it wont even start ?

The engine is probably flooded with too much gas. Every time the throttle is twisted, a shot of gas goes into the cylinder. Don't twist the throttle so much. Once or twice should be all that is needed.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Take a propane torch, turn on the gas but DON'T LIGHT IT!!! Start the vehicle and point the torch at any and all vacuum outlets and hoses. If the engine revs up slightly, you have found your leak. The vacuum will pull the propane into the engine causing it to rev. Check the throttle body mounting plate good and vacuum lines at the back of the engine and transmission. Hope this helps.

Engine speed hunts on idle. Auto trans slow shift.

The fast idle valve is inside the throttle body. Sometimes it backs out and needs turned back in (it's threaded). This will cause the loping idle.

Get transmission filter changed with new fluid. Honda does not recommend transmission flushing.

YOU MAY GET A PEDAL POSITION SENSOR CODE AND A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR INPUT CODE. IF YOU GET THESE CODES, THEN CHANGE THE THROTTLE BODY/THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. SINCE YOUR THROTTLE POSITON SENSOR IS PART OF THE BODY, YOU MUST CHANGE THE THROTTLE BODY BECAUSE THE T.P.S. IS RIVETED TO IT AND CANNOT BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY. IT IS A DEALER PART ONLY. P.S. BE CAREFUL IF YOU CHANGE THIS PART YOURSELF DUE TO THE FACT THAT COOLANT RUNS THROUGH THE BODY TO HELP DISSIPATE HEAT. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANK YOU FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA.
