SOURCE: How to wire a tach on 05 heritage softail

Locate & route Black lead to ground / 2004-later softail: On the frame strap under the seat directly in front of the battery.

Locate & route the pink lead to Signal / For 2004 & later FXST/C/I The #3 cavity in the connector {39b} on the back of the speedometer. The socket terminal on the signal (pk) lead fits the #3 cavity.

Locate & route the Orange and white lead to power / Ummm.. it's saying for 2004 and later to adapt to the fuse block For earlier [ For 1996 to 2003 softail: locate the power lead (o/w) in the tail lamp pin connector {7a} under the seat behind the right rear corner of he battery.] "here you are looking to run it to a fused line, not directly to power/battery" I hope this helped.

SOURCE: do not know where to connect hour meter wire to the spark plug

One wire is the flexible silicone rubber wire from the spark plug to the ignition coil. You don't have to strip or connect the other wire, just wrap it around the spark plug wire a few turns.The current from the spark ignition will induce a signal into the hour meter that the meter uses to determine when the motor is on or off. I hope this helps and good luck.1b05a64.jpg

Can a 220-240v -50Hz 100watts electric blanket be pulled apart and converted to a 12V system ?

Possibly, since the blanket is made up of resistance wire it seems possible with a current limiter. But consider commercial chair heaters and auto seat heaters to make your own blanket with commercially made heating elements that are already 12V. My Simmons recliner has low-voltage (12VDC) heating wires in it (and a set of vibrators) and the chair was $250! I got the chair last fall from Menards.

I have a polaris 2009 600 IQ shift snowmobile that I would like to put a 12 volt dc plug on for my GPS. I got a outlet from polaris and I found the acc plug on the sled.I do not have electric start so...

I Have a 2010 Polaris Shift (with No electric start) and over the clutch on the left side (sitting on the sled) is a bunch of plugs, one with 4 wires.. and a longer plug with even more wires.... The One with 4 wires has a Yellow wire that produces about 10V AC, which is a good tap for a electric shield. The Longer plug has a solid Red wire which produces around 13.5V DC, which is a good tap for your 12V Plug. Connect your positive to the red wire and your ground to the brown wire (also your ground can be securely attached to your frame by a nut located just above your plugs on the frame) and your good to go!.. with the 2010 shift you don't need a battery for it to produce DC voltage.

I don't understand my wiring diagram.How does the positive and negative cables hook up to the starter relay and to the battery.I have one small red wire coming from my wiring harness does this wire connect...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If the starter relay in your version uses blue / white and red / white wires, then to my understanding, connection would be:
  • blue / white - goes to the start switch and is supplied with +12 on starting;
  • red / white - goes to the starter circuit cut-out relay. This cut-out relay controls whether the starting relay gets a ground based on neutral/gear and clutch lever conditions.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

1985 Yamaha xj700 Maxim-I am confused about my positive and negative cables.I have a red wire coming from my main harness and a cable on the positive side of the battery does the red wire and the red cable...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Pls see your other post, but basically:
  • in most, one end of the red wire is connected straight to the battery's + terminal. The other end of the red wire goes to the main fuse;
  • the black of course as you posted goes to the ground;
  • interchanging the 2 wires from the starter relay would make no difference;
  • the starter relay is not directly grounded;
  • the starter relay's + wire goes to the starter button;
  • the starter  relay's - wire goes to starter cut-off activated by safety interlocks (neutral and clutch lever).

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Electric stove top

Follow the wire, It should go to a junction box within 4 feet. It may be behind a cabinet. Remove the box cover and unscrew the wire nuts. It usually uses armored wire and this is clamped to the box. Release the clamp . Turn off breaker or remove the 2 fuses first.
