Question about 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50T

FI error message on console with the fuel injection light staying on steady.

When I installed a new battery after this winter, I went to start my bike and noticed gasoline was coming from the exhaust. Since then I replaced the plugs, new oil and filter (old oil smelled of gas). I then went to start it, and the bike ran rough and would shut down whenreleasing the throttle and I was getting a FI message on the console with the red fuel injector light staying on steady. Tonight, we replaced the fuel with some fresh stuff since the existing gas did smell and litte rough. I wasnt getting any spark to the rear plug which was rectified then noticed that the rear exhaust isnt getting hot at all..... help?

If not getting hot can only be not firing on the cylinder it connects to, try swapping the plugs about and then see if any other can stays cold or the rear one gets hot. Bikes eh whod have em

Hi Anonymous, it should be noted that the reasons EFI lights constant or flashing, will or will not start, turns over or not conditions varies from the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work or event IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying bike down/crashes, rainstorms/bike washings just before EFI light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin, also carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes to reduce the risk of being stranded or towed, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets. For more information about your issue please visit the websites below. Good luck and have a nice day.

Why is my if light staying on


FI , im guessing is going to stand for "fuel injection"

If the bike now sounds different it has probably got a problem with the fuel injection somewhere that the computer has picked up.

If the sound of the bike has changed it may have dropped 1 cylinder and that is why it sounds different all of a sudden.

It could be a simple blocked injector or water in the your fuel - a bad batch of fuel will play havoc with the fuel injection system on any vehicle.

When was the last time you bought fuel ? was this problem only after getting new fuel? when was the last time the bike was serviced?

id have the fuel system checked buy someone that knows what they are looking at.

FI light stays on. I changed one of the fuses recently. Should I check all the fuses? Is it a bigger problem?


FL indicates a Fuel Injection problem. This could be anything from a dirty air filter to a plugged injector or a fuel mapping problem. Take the bike to a dealer and have them read the error codes to see what is going on.

FI lights stays on, popped on last night while


FI means fuel injection and your bikes computer is picking up a problem and letting you know that maintenance has to be performed for peak efficiency. you can go to the dealer and have them read the codes and you can decide whose going to do the repairs. or just try some Seafoam, buy it at Autozone pour 1/3 to 2 gallons fuel, it wont hurt it, and ride it around getting on every once in awhile, for about 10 to 15 miles, then you might have to disconnect the battery to reset the light...these are just the cheapest things to try. let me get some feedback on this thanks!

The red light is on, and where the temp shows, it flashes "F1" or "FI". What does this mean?


hey mate, i had the same trouble with my bike came up red light with FI it ended up being the charging circuit and i had to replace the regulator/rectifier to fix it...
Im guessing the FI stands for fuel injection and there is not enough charge for it to run the fuel injection system...

could be the same problem with your bike, easiest way to check is to run a multi meter that is set to volts dc over the + & - on the battery and see what its got then start the bike and it should go fluctuate between 13.0v and 13.5v...

If it just stays on 12v and drops slowly it is not charging the battery!

There is a FL light on the dash that stays on when the bike is running... 2004 kawasaki zx6-r


FI means Fuel Injection. The computer chip that controls the fuel injection system on your bike has detected a problem. It could be major or minor. You will need to take the bike to a dealer and have them read the codes to find out exactly what the problems are.

The FI message means the computer detects a problem with your fuel injection system. Problems with the power commander can cause this message, to troubleshoot it I would start by removing the power commander. You can also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (15 or so) to reset your bikes computer.
