More than likely as the power valve is what allows extra fuel into the system for acceleration
it could be blocked or out of adjustment if operated from the throttle.

SOURCE: yz 250 2008 possible 5th gear stripped?

I doubt that any gears are stripped. Believe me you would have known it when it happened at 40mph which is where you would have to be in 5th gear. This is a bent shift fork. The actual gear is fine. The slider gear is not moving far enough to engage with 5th gear. The YZ does tend to have this problem in 5th and 1st. "Dirt rider Magazine " did a story on it. Best to let the shop do the repair as the entire motor gets torn down into about 100 parts.

SOURCE: 1994 yz 250 bogs down

Have you cleaned the carburator ? It seems the main jet has some kind of obstruction.
Try cleaning the carburator and well a tune up would be fine too after the clean , check the plug/s & air filter too.

SOURCE: YZ-250 wont idle and cuts out unless choke is on

the idler jet in the carb is clogged, remove carb and disassemble and clean float bowl jets and clean out all passeges. be care full there are a lot of small parts. if your not sure you can do it, you might be able to take off the carb and have cleaned at your local shop and put it back on yourself. this way might save you money.

SOURCE: i put a new clutch in my 89 yz 250 when i rebiult

There should be a small bracket that sits over the actuator arm and is screwed into the cases. This is what holds it in place and keeps it from popping up

02 yz 250 not reving up

Check the compression. It should have at least 100 psi,..if not, then its time to rebuild the top end..IE piston, rings, bore cylinder. If compression checks out,i would start with the power valve. Two stroke dirtbikes power valves are notorius for gumming up and sticking, causing them to not rev correctly.
