How to remove rear fender on Yamaha vmax motorcycle

Place on center stand, remove rear wheel, remove passenger seat, unplug turn and tail light wires, you will see 2 nuts or bolts holding grab rail, remove these, there is also one small bolt in the center between the grab rail bolts, remove it, be careful as you remove it as fender will now drop out.

How to remove rear fender on duece

2003 Softail FXSTD REAR FENDER removal and replacement:

Start by blocking themotorcycle underneath the frame such that the rear wheel is
raised off the ground to allow necessary clearance for removal of the fender and then remove the seat and disconnect the negative battery cable. THEN remove all of the fasteners from both of the fender supports, remove the fasteners and washers from fender underside, remove the fasteners, and spacers adjacent to the oil tank, remove the tail lamp. disconnect and remove the rear turn signal assemblies, disconnect both of the ignition control module connectors and the rear lighting harness, remove the retaining nuts from both fender mounting brackets and lift the fender from the motorcycle. To Disassemble the fender:
start by removing the both screws and washers and remove the license plate bracket from the rear fender. THEN, if needed, remove the tail lamp harness from behind that bracket To Reassemble the fender: start by reinstalling the tail light harness of it was removed and position it along the side with the slot as it was removed from. THEN fasten the license plate bracket and tighten both of the fasteners to 144-180 in-lbs (16.3-20.3 Nm).

To Reinstall the Fender start by positioning the fender inside of the frame tubes and over the tire assembly making sure that both the ECM and the tail light wiring harnesses are not in a position that they might possibly be pinched by the fender and having done that loosely install both fender mounting brackets using on each side, the two nuts that were previously removed from these locations and tighten them all to 20-25 ft-lbs (27.1-33.9 Nm). THEN apply a drop or two of LOCTITE THREADLOCKER 243 (blue) to the fastener threads, install the fasteners and spacers to secure both fender supports and with the spacers on the front fasteners and tighten them to 168-192 in-lbs (19.0-21.7 Nm). THEN re-attach the turn signal assemblies, loosely install the fasteners and washers from the underside of the fender and tighten them to 144-180 in-lbs (16.3-20.3 Nm). THEN re-connect the ignition module connectors and the rear lighting
Harness and install the tail light assembly, reconnect the battery negative cable, properly and securely reinstall the seat.

How do i remove rear turn signals on 2009 street bob?

If you need to remove the tail lite, brake lite and signal light harness start by removing the seat. Then disconnect the negative battery cable. Then detach the rear electrical harness connector. Then locate and follow the wires for the taillight and signal lights to the connector (8 pin) under the seat area and separate the connector. Then cut the cable tie strap holding the wiring harness to the frame and pull the harness through the fender opening. Then follow the conduit/harness back to the fender hole where the wiring exits the fender underside and enters the tail lite housing and backplate. This is not necessary for removal of the tail/brake lite assembly or the signal lie assemblies.

If you want to remove the tail/brake lite assembly remove the tail light lens and the with a small screwdriver depress the small tang in the tail lite four wire Multilock connector and remove the tail lite and then do the same and release the two wire signal light connectors one at a time from the tail lite base and remove the signal light connectors. These smaller two wire Multilock connectors are on the left and right sides of the base plate in the centre portions of the base plate where the 4 wire tail lite connector on the left side of the base plate is located and the wiring harness connector of the wires from the front of the bike to the base plate on the right side. The wires from the left and right signal lite assemblies go from these connection points on the base plate out through each side of the base plate and into the area under the back of the rear fender to each signal lite assembly. Then similarly release the Multilock connector of the harness from under the seat to the tail lite base. When you have disconnected the connectors from the base plate and have routed the wire harnesses out into the area under the fender you can release them from the wire clips at each side of the under fender areas. Then for each side remove the lamp support by unscrewing and removing the fastener and washer inside the rear fender, after which the lamp housing can be removed from the lamp support by pulling it and the wiring you disconnected from the tail lite base out through the lamp support. If you wish to release/remove the tail lite base undo the fastener and remove it.

How do i remove rear fender on night rod special

To remove a 2011 VRSCDX rear fender FIRST remove the main fuse under the right side cover first, then remove the tail light open the seat, remove the seat pillion, remove the fasteners and the passenger pillion, remove the electrical caddy and the six fasteners and the washers from the fender, remove the fender from the inner fender by lifting upward and sliding the fender back, remove the inner fender by removing the rear shocks and fasteners.

To install a 2011 VRSCDX rear fender FIRST install the inner fender and fasteners, tighten the fasteners to 95-110 Nm (75-81 ft-lbs), install the rear shocks using shock mount fasteners and tighten the fasteners to 41-68 Nm (31-50 ft-lbs), install the rear fender by sliding it into the slot on the tail lamp panel and aligning the fender with the bolt holes on the inner fender, install the six fender fasteners and tighten them to 4.5-7.5Nm (40-66 in-lbs), install the tail lamp, install the passenger pillion and its fasteners. Seat removal on 2009 harley softail deluxe

To install slide the retention nut over the tapered end of a cable tie strap so
that the larger O.D. of the nut rests on cable tie strap eyelet, then from the bottom of the rear fender feed the cable tie strap up through the fender hole, with the tab on the retention nut seated in the notch in the fender hole pull up on the cable tie strap to locate the nut snug up against the underside of the rear fender and then from the side opposite the tab i.e. from the rear of the fender slide the retention washer onto the nut which will lock it in place.

The FXST/FXSTB seat attaches with a single thumbscrew on the seat bracket. When installing a seat insert the tang at the front of the seat into the channel in the frame and install the single rear thumbscrew which Harley- Davidson has a special tool for which I have never even seen, pn HD-47190.

The FXSTC seat attaches with two fasteners through the sissy bar. When installing the seat the tang at the front of the seat is inserted into the channel in the frame and the two rear fasteners go through the and get tightened to 60-80 in-lbs (6.8-9.0Nm).

The FXCW/FXCWC Solo Seat is attached with 2 locating pins that for removal must be removed from their grommets by lifting the rear of the seat, then the seat is pulled to the rear to disengage the tongue from the frame. To install the seat put it on the frame, slide the seat forward until the tongue locks into the bracket, push the seat forward to align the two locating pins with their grommets and then push the seat down to engage the locating pins.
The FXCWC rider Seat is removed by tipping the seat up and towards the fuel tank, the two fasteners are removed and the seat is then taken off the bike. Do the reverse to install the seat and tighten the fasteners to 90-110 in-lbs (10.2-12.4 Nm).
The FXCWC Passenger Seat Support is removed by tipping the rider seat up and towards thefuel tank removing the two screws and washers from one pillion support, removing the pillion support and the rear seat pillion, then removing the remaining pillion support. To install it install one pillion support but do not tighten its fasteners, install the wave washer and bushing on each pillion support, install the pillion and the second pillion support and tighten all of the fasteners to an initial torque of 30-35 ft-lbs (40.7-47.5 Nm), then loosen the fasteners and then final tighten them to 38-42 ft-lbs(51.5-56.9 Nm), check the rider seat operation and then lower the rider seat into position and engage the locating pins into their
grommets.

To remove the FLSTN/FLSTF/FLST/FLSTC seat remove the passenger seat and seat mounting fasteners. When installing the seat insert the tang at the front of the seat into the channel in the frame and install the seat mounting nuts, then install the passenger seat.

To remove the FLSTSB seat remove the screw from the seat hinge at the front of the seat, raise the rear of the seat only slightly during removal or installation because pivoting the rear of the seat up too high can cause the nose of the seat to damage the leather trim panel on the fuel tank., to disengage the springs from the seat spring mounting pins and remove the seat. To install the FLSTB seat align the seat hinge with the mounting bracket on the frame, insert the screw into the seat hinge from the right side of the motorcycle and tighten it to 14-16 ft-lbs (19.0-21.7Nm), align the bushings on the seat springs with the mounting pins and push the rear of the seat down to engage the seat spring mounting pins. The seat position may be adjusted forward or rearward for rider comfort by removing the seat, removing the nut on the seat hinge, removing the bolts from the seat spring support bracket, (the seat hinge and seat spring support bracket must be installed in the same position in either a forward or a rearward configuration for the seat to fit properly on the motorcycle). To position seat forward install the hinge with the front tab in the slot, install the seat spring support bracket with the springs toward the rear of the seat. AND to position the seat rearward install the hinge with the rear tab in the slot and install the seat spring support bracket with the springs toward the front of the seat., THEN install the nut on the seat hinge and tighten it to 20-25 ft-lbs (27.1-33.9 Nm), install the screws for the seat spring support bracket and tighten them to 15-20 ft-lbs (20.3-27.1 Nm) and then install the seat.

Rear fender replacement sportster

Hi Anonymous, this is not an easy job for first timers or myself since I have no idea what year and model XL you have, that being said here is the short version: remove seat, rear wheel, and fender strut covers. There is usually 5 bolts that hold the fender to the frame with spacers and grommets in between, 2 on each side and 1 at the front center. Disconnect turn signal and tail lite wires and remove fender. Good luck

Horn has 2 wires BK = ground going to main harness and Y/BK going to pin 6 of connector [2A] which is Main to interconnect harness 12-place Molex (gray) Inner fairing - leftt radio support bracket

You need What brake system front or rear??

Front signals from [31] pin one = BK = RT turn; pin 2 = BN = Rt Turn; pin 3 = BE = DOM running lite; pin 4 = BE = DOM running lite; pin 5 = V = Lt turn; pin 6 = BK = LT turn

[32] = pin one = BK; pin 2 = O/W = DOM Front Fender Tip Lite

How do I remove the battery from my 2003 soft tail classic?

Remove the seat, disconnect the rubber "hold down' strap, disconnect the wires and lift the battery out. Earlier model softails had a bolt on either side of the frame to hold the seat on just in front of the rear fender struts.

Good Luck

Got saddle bags and rigid supports for my 95 intruder and have removed seats, but have no idea how to attach brackets/bag. any help, I'm lost, thanks

if there are bolts holding the rear fender to the frame at the side of the seat (2 on each side), remove these 4 bolts and offer up the saddlebag brackets. the bolts then go through the ends of the brackets and then back into the frame of the bike and then on in to support the rear fender.
It might be an idea to purchase longer bolts as they may not be long enough with the added depth of the saddlebag bracket.
make sure they are tightened up as the bolts also hold the rear fender to the frame of the bike and if the rear fender is allowed to move it will crack the plastic.
hope this helps
