Hi,I have never herd of one before, you are just ment to keep your eye on the level,if it has run out compleatly then I would say before you try to start it again I would premix a bit of two sroke oil with the petrol in the tank,
as if it starts without the two stroke oilyou could do alot of damidge as this is the loob for the piston.
I wish you the best, hope this was some help.

Does this engine require mix gas?

Peter
you are too short on details like make model , 2 stroke or 4 stroke
read your user manual or look on the petrol cap as most have the ratio on the bowser emblem
so for an answer, it is most likely a 2 stroke and so-- yes-- it will require a oil/fuel mix in the tank
if you do not know it , start with a ratio of 40:1 ( 40 fuel -1 oil) and only use 2 stroke oil not normal engine oil
run at rpms and there should be a trace of blue smoke
too much smoke cut the oil back to 50:1 and no smoke increase the oil to 30:1
go google and type in user manual for ( make and model ) --and the ratio will be in that print put

Generator

I suggest that the rings are now soft or broken and not sealing or the valves are stuck open unless it is a 2 stroke. Gen sets have a low oil cut out switch that stops the motor immediately there is insufficient oil in the sump. I wonder why it allowed you to run the engine for 10 minutes as it will not even allow you to start with no oil.

Craftsman 42in 16hp engine will not stay cranked. Changed sparkplug, airfliter, changed oil, check all 3 neutral switches all fine. Will crack for about 15 minutes and cut off. Could it be overheating...

make sure the oil is up on the safe mark on the oil stick, you should use 30 or 40 weight motor oil , but if it has oil safety switch ,it could have gone bad,and it will shut d0wn the motor, just try unplugging the safety switch and see if it stays running ,if it does replace the safety switch.

It starts with the switch fine but when i let go of the key it cuts off

Check for faulty low oil sending unit or oil level low or dirty oil (some generators have a fuel cut-out solenoid at the carb ). Key switch will override the low oil safety. Easy test, remove wire from oil sending unit. If unit runs, and oil has not been changed in a while, service engine and retest.

Does the anti theft alarm cut the engine ? or oil to the engine ?

Some cars will have a cut off switch. This stops the car from running if hit in an auto accident for safety reason. If you have one of these switches and if the car was hit or even bumbed in some way it may go off. There is usually a reset button or lever of some sort in the truck.

I do not know if your car has this but it is something to check for.

Good Luck

The chainsaw runs fine chain rotates all ok untill pressure is applied to cut through a small branch. the chain then comes to a stop and sometimes the engine will stall???

The engine should 4-stroke lightly when running at speed unloaded, but immediately 2-stroke when cutting. Adjust the H jet CCW somewhat to accomplish this. Make sure the chain is being oiled properly, the chain tension is correct, and the chain is sharpened properly. If this doesn't help, then remove the bar and chain, and wash out the clutch internals with spray carburetor cleaner to remove excess oil. Hope this helps!

49cc 2 stroke runs for 20 sec. then cuts out

20 seconds is all that is required to drain the float bowl. You have a float bowl/needle valve problem.

Cut off switch problem

The pressure switch will trip off when the compressor reaches the rated setting (usually 120 ~150psi). If the compressor keeps running untill the safety pops releasing air (usually about 160psi) then the switch is most likely problem. I use SquareD switch from WWW.Grainger.com. However if the compressor keeps running but never pops the safety and only reaching around 90 to 100psi, then you could have several other issues including: leaking fittings (check with soapy water), worn cylinder and piston (on oilfree compressor examine cylinder from below and look for scratches), leaking valves on oil type compressor. Please email with your finding and any questions Good Luck
