Hi.
It's either your coil or CDI thats at fault.
Download yourself a copy of the service manual from the internet and measure the coil resistance values that are quoted in the manual.(how and where to measure is usually shown in all good manuals)
If these are correct then its most likely your CDI.
Your Honda dealership should be able to test this for you, but this may cost as much as a second hand CDI.
The CDI on the XR200 is the same as a lot of models eg. cb125, cd125 .
You will find quite a few on ebay , both new and second hand , make sure you get the same model as already in use (number should be on the CDI)
good luck

SOURCE: hi everyone... need some help on my honda xr200.... i just wana ask if the starter relay has something to do with the charging of the battery? what is the normal or ideal stator output in ohmz??

The stator has no output. The stator has to have continuity to all legs without short to ground. Best bet, check voltage at battery when not running. Check again when running. Voltage should be at least 1-1.5 volts higher when running. If not you should start at the battery and work your way to the alternator. If all wiring is tight and not frayed or broken, check each individual part in the charging system.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Possible suspects:
  • IC Ignitor (CDI) (most likely);
  • connectors (likely)
  • pulser coil (least likely).

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

How do i wire a honda nsr125 to the coil and what do i need

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Would depend to which coil:
  • ignition coil - green to ground & black/yellow to CDI;
  • pulser coil - blue & green/white to CDI;
  • exciter coil - black/red to CDI;
  • stator coils - 3 X yellow to rectifier/regulator combo.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

No spark .ck'd wiring, is there common problem on these with spark?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my understanding, all of the CR250R wiring has to do with the ignition system. Initial checks:
  • disconnect the black / white wire from the engine stop button to the CDI;
  • pulsating low ACV on the blue / yellow & white / green wires from the pulser coil;
  • pulsating high ACV on the blue & white wires from the exciter coil;
  • pulsating high ACV on the black / yellow & green wires to the ignition coil.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Put new engine in carnt get a spark at plug sym jet 50cc euro 2004 model

There may be several things causing this fault (your sure the plug is fine?)

The ignition systems on these bikes are pretty basic. The Stator plate provides power to the CDI unit, which builds up until the pulser tells it to send the power to the coil and produce the spark

1. is there voltage from the stator plate (under flywheel) - you can test with a basic multimeter.

2. is the pulser sending a pulse - also can be tested with basic multimeter

3. is the CDI blown? - swap out to test

4. Is the Coil blown? - can be tested with multimeter

it is also very possible that you may have got a couple of wires mixed up when you switched engines.

1985 honda VT 500c shadow one cylinder when engine hot

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Soon as the problem comes about, check the pulser coil:
  • passive - depending on the manufacturer of the pulser generator, anywhere from 50 to 500 ohms. As long as it is not shorted (0 ohms) or open (no reading), then it should normally be good.
  • active - while cranking or engine running, check the voltage coming from the pulser coil. It would be a pulsating 0.5VAC. It might be to your advantage to use an analog / needle type voltmeter.
Post back result.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

I am not getting spark on my 1997 suzuki bandit 1200s, there is a weak spark for a second then it stops and nothing, it will crank over fine, im almost positive its not my coil packs as i had a known good...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Just to verify and eliminate the ignition coils, tests for it are:
  • one terminal would have an IGN +12;
  • the other terminal would have a pulsating voltage when cranking;
  • passive test, primary (+ to -), resistance 3 ~ 5 ohms; while
  • any of the primary terminal to HT would be 15 ~ 18 kilo ohms.
The CDI could not be tested since it is a sealed unit. The only way to confirm if it is a CDI is to check the external factors and if they are present yet no spark, then it would be the CDI:
  • the CDI gets its triggers from the pulser coils;
  • the output of the pulser coils would be very very low ACV;
  • it would be preferable to use an analog/needle type multitester for the flickering pulser voltage;
  • the CDI also needs a "go signal" from the interlocks together with the starter relay;
  • try exercising the sidestand when cranking;
  • verify neutral light is on;
  • try starting with the clutch lever pulled.
Another possibility to consider is that the starter is consuming most of the power from the battery leaving very little for the ignition system to use and/or the ignition switch has some loose connection. The IGN +12 to the coil terminal should also test this possibility.

Please postback results / updates of tests performed.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

KMX WONT START

try replacing spark plug 1st set at proper gap. next take plug cap off wire by unscrewing it from wire. hold 1/4" from motor and crank. if none, trim 1/8" off wire and retry. your pulser coil could be out. get multimeter, get service manual, find resistance reading,unplug stator/pulser coil plug(S) follow manual test procedure for testing stator coil, and pulser. check ign coil,make sure grounded to frame,clean rust, check resistance readings(manual) or test system w/ known good unit. lastly check wiring for continuity if no fire.
