If it has a normal nut shape then use an extended socket
If it has a hex then use a allen key

The oi drain plug on 2002 1100 is rounded off any suggestions?

My guess is this is a new motorcycle for you and this is your first oil change. Other wise, you must have done it.

I have not seen every oil plug used on every motorcycle brand - I have seen a lot of oil plugs, however. Typically, they are metric, though some meet some other size standard. Typically, they are removed by owners using an adjustable or wrong 'standard' size wrench because they don't have the proper size BOX or OPEN END or SOCKET wrench. The plugs are made of soft steel - no reason to have a hardened oil plug - so that is how they get rounded.

What should you do? You should replace it. Purchase one at your local authorized Yamaha Dealer.

Where to fill transfer case

HI. On the strat the fill plug is just behind the rear exhaust pipe about one inch or so to the rear. You need to loosen the front exhaust header nuts (don\'t remove 17 ft. lbs. ) remove the rear header nuts (these are allen style 14 ft. lbs.) pull the rear header out of the exhaust port. Use a torque wrench or they will leak. Now you have enough room to install the allen wrench into the fill plug. This plug is about 1 1/2 in diameter. It is a big pain to do. Don\'t loose the exhaust gaskets or just buy new. They are about $12 each. I have reused them just a couple times then install new.

Roadliner oil drain plugs

Then it sounds as if a special wrench is needed to remove the oil drain plug, unless there is an alternate way to remove it.
So what you are saying is the frame or engine case is in the way of putting a wrench on the plug?
Here's link to a PDF downloadable owner's manual,

Ok, I saw in the manual where the oil drain bolts are located, they are in a poor spot.
I suggest you call a dealer and politely ask what wrench they use to remove the drain bolts.

Overtightened oil drain plug

you could try a pair of stiltons on the sump plug. if the worst comes you could either weld a bolt to the sump plug (depending on what the plug is made of) or you could drill it out.

hope this helps.

Change oil

you wish to change the oil yourself ?

Remove the drain plug from the oil pan and drain your oil into a pan (make sure it's large enough to hold all the oil. the oil filter is removed by a special wrench.... or a plastic socket that fits over the end of the filter and can be turned by a ratchet.

When replacing the filter put a light coating around the plastic seal before you put the filter back on.

Or if you don't like the mess take it to a garage.
