Question about Suzuki Motorcycles

I have 92 Suzuki katakana 600 f. I replaced the old spark plug wires and now I can't remember the way they went on. The coil packs are not numbered. I need to know each side left and right

Ok one coil is for no1 +4 and the other is 2+3 the coil with one short lead and one long one is for one and four.usually the longer lead is the one for number one and the shorter for no 4.

    also I would say mount the coil for one and four on the right hand side and the left one to 2+3 if when you try and start it missfires and backfires it's the wrong way around.

any wires not plugged into there respective places, any sensors the old engine had that this one don't, did you use the old distributor for your coil setup,I think it might be, luck

hook up a scanner if you have one, check to see if your scanner is registering a crank signal.

Do you have a code for a misfire?

If a crank sensor goes bad the vehicle will typically not start at all.

If you have spark to all the cylinders than the next step is to either check compression or check the injectors. Usually the injectors will stick when this happens they will ohm out fine but will not spray fuel. To check them you will need either a high end scan tool or and injector tester and an fuel pressure gauge. The tester is connected to the injectors one at a time using the bulk connector near the alternator. The injector is then triggered by the tester as you watch for a drop in fuel pressure. Whichever injector does not drop fuel pressure when triggered is the bad injector.

2.0L D-TEC 14 VOLT (?-ed.). What is firing and coil order?


J20a or J20B engine?neither,
the forenza is a mix of parts. suzuki Deawoo and GM.
not something easy to work with
they used 5 engines.....total. but yours is GM.(kinda )
The US model line features the 2.0 L four-cylinder D-TEC made by General Motors,
It's no Suzuki J engine, at all. with COPS or twin packs.
no j20a twin packs
no J20B COPs (4 coils independant)
it has one GM pack. (key fact there)

My suzuki vitara 20v6 number one plug is not


its a 2.0L V6 called the h20 engine
in some countries, this engine uses a coil pack with 1 coil per
2 cylinders, this magic is called Wasted spark.
some have 3 coil packs for 6 cylinders
others have 1 huge pack with 3 coils inside.
what you have , im totally clueless, (no country stated, dig?)

but no matter, the pack is bad, or the wire that is FINE, is not FINE
no human on earth can test a HV wire, no body.! ( 1 out of 4 sure)
that is fact, (sure if opened) but what about the other modal failiures.
1: insulation breakdown.
2: resistance wrong, (say too high)
3: intermittent.
4: dead open, anyone can test this, its a no brainer. if ever.

this fact is why the 60k mile tune up, will fix it. new wires.
new HV wire set, I run NGK MAG wires, they last 2x longer.
easy.

no only that. with wasted spark , the other plug in the loop can cause your dead plug to be dead. and its wires too.
that is because it is a LOOP

if both plugs are new and both wires are new
then the coil is bad.
coil packs are usually way more expensive that $2.49 spark plugs
or $20 wires.

Bought coil pack for 92 pontiac bonneville connected wires underneath pack and spark plug wires now will not start at all


Did you replace all three coil packs or just one?
Did you get the spark plug wires in theproper order? (if not it may not start).
What wire did you connect underneath the coil pack (there are no wires under the coil pack). A wire bolts/plugs up to the side of the coil pack.

1998 honda cbr600 cylinders 1 & 2 not firing


Hi, I'm not totally sure but I seem to remember that the CB 600 series had twin coil-packs that deliver the spark to the engine spark plugs. One coil-pack will operate two of the cylinders and the other coil-pack operates the other two cylinders. These coil packs do have a habit of breaking down and the spark will not be produced for the two spark plugs that it powers. The coil-packs can be found at the opposite end of the spark plug leads, which I seem to remember are moulded into the coil-pack. You might have to change both coil-packs as I'm not sure if they are available separately, anyhow, if money is not a huge issue it would be best to change both for brand new. Be warned; second hand is not a good idea with coil-packs. while at first they may seem OK, as the coil heats up they may start to break down and cause very erratic running symptoms and misfiring (remember it's a coil and it will heat up as the electricity passes through it + the heat of the engine).
If the Coil-Packs can be separated you could swap them over and see if the problem jumps to the Nos. 3 & 4 cylinders. NB. you can't just swap the ignition leads as each lead from each pack is specific to a cylinder. You would have to swap the units and all of the wiring. Sounds complicated but it's just a matter of separating the coils from the wiring loom by disconnecting the connectors, then connecting them back up again having swapped them over.
If that doesn't prove the coil-packs are at fault, then the problem will be the CDI pick-ups. These units tell the coil when to operate to give the spark, they are generally bullet proof and if there is a problem hear, it's most likely to do with the wiring to and from them.

Went through some water van died after sitting a day it started up but engine light is now on and sputters when stopped went to auto zone they say i have a 2 cylinder misfire what excactly does this mean...


It means that the number 2 cylinder (passenger front of the engine) is not working. Whether its spark, fuel, or mechanical. The first thing you can check is if there is spark to the cylinder. With the engine running remove the spark plug wire from the number 2 spark plug. Listen or look for spark out of the plug wire. If there isn't than you can check for spark out of the coil pack. Do this with a test light or spark tester. With the engine off remove the number 2 spark plug wire from the coil pack. With the spark tester installed or the test light hooked to ground and placed on the #2 coil post have some body crank the engine over. If ther4e is no spark that you might have a bad coil pack. If there is spark than possibly the plug wire is bad.

You should not drive it with a misfire as you could ruin the catalytic converter which is very expensive to replace.

On Type I coil packs, three twin tower ignition coils are combined into a single coil pack unit.

On Type II coil packs, the coils can be replaced separately and the ignition wires are all on the same side of the coil pack.

On my 92 rm 125 i put a new stater on it and where


Could be a bad coil, coil wire or module. The module converts the pulses of the stator so the coil knows when to spark. Bad coil = no spark. Bad coil wire = no spark to plug.

The battery went deaed so we jump the bike with a jumper pack. Now there isnt any spark


Sounds like you burned out your coil packs. Some models have an inline fuse somewhere between the stator and the coils that will pop first but if not, have your coil packs tested.

How do i plug in the spark plug coils? what order?


If it's the four cyl., the first coil pack bolts over the #2 spark plug. The #2 coil pack wire plugs into #3 spark plug. The number two coil pack bolts directly over the number four spark plug, and the #2 coil pack wire plugs into the #4 plug. The firing order is 1-4-2-3.
