Question about Motorcycles

I need to replace the Carb, is the carb off the 99 model compatible with the 94 model?

The part numbers are different but the only physical difference as far as I can tell is the throtle adjustment and one or two mounting brackets.

If they are the same then yes but you need to be sure the jetting inside is the same and the adjustments are set the same as your old carb

I believe these engine had two different style carburetors One was a Carter YF model and the other was a Fomoco just can 't remember model number. A Holley Carb should work fine this engine needs proper Jetting and power valve.

Carborator gummed up

You can try contacting Sears and see if they can track one down. It doesn't show one on searspartsdirect so you might need to actually get the numbers off the carb itself.
You can search "Snow blower parts" and then one by one try the different parts companies with your model number to see if someone has one.
There is a very helpful forum, snowblowerforum dot com that you can post the question on and might get someone with a similar model or more craftsman knowledge who might know where to get one.
If you get the numbers off the carb I'd also check out ebay as at times the carbs are so cheap rebuilding them doesn't make $$$ sense.

Look on the side of the carb ,you will find a model number eg keihin cvk30. use this number when ordering replacement carb from the breakers. you will need two identical carbs preferably the same as anything elce will need a lot of setting up and your motor isnt worth tuning with bigger carbs as you will loose out on low end grunt.

Instruction on how to rebuild Stihl FS85 carburetor

The FS 85 was produced in HUGE quantities over a number of years. Several different carbs were used during production and Stihl has several proprietary carbs in use. You will need a Rebuild Kit (NOT just a Diaphragm Kit) for this particular carb. On the carb body you should see a Series and a Model identification.
Example: If this is a ZAMA carburetor, the C1U-S66 might have been used on your trimmer.
Get that info off the carb body and ...
For ZAMA carb lookups click HERE.
For WALBRO carbs click HERE.

Hope this helps.
