1999 Oldsmobile intrigue 3.5 LTR V6 Will Click Once, Wont Crank and Will Not Start.

I replaced the alternator when I got the car last year because the battery wouldn't hold a charge. It ran great up until the point I let it sit in my driveway for a season and a half. I charged the battery. I boosted the car. I checked the fuses. I have no answers, nothing has worked. I am going to try the Passkey thing tomorrow by leaving it in the On position for 10 minutes at a time, 3 times.. It will click once then give me nothing. I read that the clicking sound is coming from the solenoids on the starter and that the reason it wont turn is because of the starter itself. I am lost. Please Help!!

Thank you. I'm going to hook up the battery to a charger and leave it charging for a full day. If it doesn't charge I will look into a battery replacement.

I think probably not the starter, the battery is dying. The old alternator was possibly OK, but it never hurts to have a new one.

The behavior you describe is absolutely classic for a dying battery, which will not retain a charge. If you are sure for some reason that it is in fact OK, the only other answers are worn out contacts at the bottom of the solenoid, or a dead segment in the starter motor.

The lights and heater motor go bright and dim like a short in the system and the front blinkers bulbs burn out all the time, they last about a week and burn out.Could it be a bad ground and if it is where...

I've owned a 2000 intrigue for a year and i've already replaced one blinker socket because the bulb melted into it and the parts supplier said he stocks alot of those because it's a common problem. And the lights that go dim I have the same problem and looked it up it is the alternator and gm knows about it they appearently sell a "no flicker" alternator although I haven't replaced mine yet. I hope this helps - someone said "Intrigue is a perfect name for this car it has so many quirks it's "Intriguing"

Belt routing on a 1999 olds intrigue

Verbal description of the complete serpentine belt loop on a 99 Olds 3.5 V6:
This is from Benny 1345 (Answers.com) - off the top of my head it sounds right:
Top of CAM to top of ALTERNATOR - bottom of ALTERNATOR to top of nearby (front) PULLEY - bottom of PULLEY to top of A/C COMPRESSOR - bottom of COMPRESSOR to bottom of CRANK - top of CRANK to bottom of middle PULLEY - top of middle PULLEY to bottom of rear TENSIONER - top of TENSIONER to back to top of CAM.
Remember the serpentine belt has ribs on only one side, the ribs face AWAY from the two guide pulleys and TOWARD the pulleys on the Alternator, Compressor, Crank, Cam and Tensioner. You should tell by the pulley being smooth or ribbed as needed.

Have a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.8L V6. The radiator fans are not coming on when the car gets hot and the car gets real hot what and where is the sensor for this?

Providing your guage is working correctly; look just inside the fan, you should see a wire coming from the fan motor, follow the wire. It will end up at a sending unit that looks similar to a fitting. This is what tells the fans when to turn on.

I have a 99 oldsmobile intrigue with the 3.8L and when I go to start it it clicks once. I have full power and if I were to keep trying it will start. Can anyone help?

Sounds like bad relay contacts. Search for the click under the hood and relpace the relay or take it apart and clean the contacts.
