You will only have power to one side until you press starter button then the other side should come live and have power at starter wire bolt check fuse at solenoid

Hey Steve, if you need a jump to start it then every thing is working except battery holding power try putting battery on a SLOW charge for a day then try again when its running check output of altinator with a fully charged battery it should be 12.5-13.5 volts and rise when you rev motor up ,when you jump it im thinking the battery is very low and the altinator is trying to recharge battery and it cant do that in just a few minutes running time or take it on along ride and watch amp gauge .good luck Steve.

No start no crank

It could be one of two problems.

1. How old is battery. If it has been in car since day one its time to change
2. If battery is ok then it could be starter silaniod or starter all together.

No power when turning key

Battery is bad. Rapid clicking of starter selenoid is because battery does not have enough to hold spring down in selenoid when it sees the starter load. Battery only has a surface charge (nothing of power). Try a new battery or a jump. Should have lights first, then horn, then starter. If no lights, check all fuses.

1994 Mazda Protege wouldn't start, battery seemed dead replaced battery with a new one and still no power

Does anything work? Lights, radio? Do the warning lights and gauges turn on when key is turned to on? That would verify power is getting to the ignition switch and is being sent out.
Pretty limited in what you can check without a voltmeter or test light. If you have power to the ignition switch, need to know if power is getting to the starter solenoid on the starter motor when the key is held in cranking position. If power there, likely a new starter is called for-have yours tested.

Can a new starter silaniod go bad right away? can a new igniction switch be no good?

It is possible but unlikely. See here for troubleshooting a starter. Different vehicle but the same principles apply.
Remember that a low battery charge/bad battery can also adversely affect starter operation. Have it load tested before replacing.

When I turn the key in the ignition the car won't start and the starter makes no sound. It has a new battery and a new alternator. What I can I do besides set it on fire?

You may have a bad starter, the best to determine this is by testing for power at the starter, also the battery is new but is it still good and fully charged, you may what to make sure battery is fully charged first, then test starter with a test light, there are two connection at starter, one is a battery cable this has power at all times then the small wire, this should have power when key is held in the crank postion, have someone hold the key while you test. if theres power at both connections then starter is bad, heres a diagram to show you where to test starter.5eb28af.jpg

My bike will not start , it was working fine all of a sudden it would not start up ,

First check the fuse's and replace if needed. Then check the battery to see if it has gone bad. Check the starter silaniod and all connections even the ground wire. If all check out ok the go to the starter. You my need to remove it and have it tested.

Won't start getting nothing when i turn key

Recheck all your connections, battery. starter, look for fuseable link on small wire going to starter. Might want to chk.that wire with test light when key switch is in start position and see if it lights. If it does not light might be starter switch under dash on steering colume.
