You will probably have to check all fuses to be sure.
Some circuit boards might have been damaged, so you will need t check a lot of circuits. A tough job even for an electronics person.
But check all fuses first.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Replaced battery and the terminal

You may have blown more than 1 fusible link. There are several Black powerboxes under the hood. Check if you have power going to these Powerboxes and go from there. It is difficult to check the relays but you can check whether they are getting the power to work.

Also, if you have good Insurance coverage you may be able to make a claim for this under Comprehensive. I had an A/C short out the wiring under my dash and Insurance covered it all. If this was done at a Shop, then their Liability should cover it.

One of your main electric wires comes from the Alternator. It is easy to get to, you could take it to Autozone or similar for a test. I would worry about the smaller items that would be damaged before a fuse would blow. This would include the onboard computer, stereo amplifier, Electric components in the transmission, and so forth.

I do not know of any reset buttons, but you can look in the Powerboxes and see if any relays have them.

Hunh? Please re-read your post, correct it so it is readable, and try again. The best I can make out is that you connected the battery in your car (what year, make and model?) backward and one or more of the fuses in the fuse box blew. You replaced the fuses that were obviously blown and now all dash lights work but that's about all I can gather.

There are likely reverse protection diodes somewhere that may also be blown. Did any of the fuses blow again when you connected the battery correctly? What all works now or doesn't work?

What happens when you hook a care battery up backwards?

Hello Glen, Bad bad things can happen when you hook up a car battery backwards. If your car has a high quality electrical system it might only blow out one or two main fuses. If not, it can cause havoc on the wiring system and burn out the alternator, computer, sensors, modules, and stereo system to name a few.

Hooked battery terminals backwards

You have reversed the polarity for the CPU in the ECM This causes problems with the program at best and at worst will require a new ECM. Use a scanner to see if the program will reset and if not have the ECM checked for operation. You may have to have the alternator checked as well as reversing polarity blows rectifier diodes.

The reverse polarity will have "zapped the radio"
There is a possibility that only the supply fuse has "blown", but depending on the radio make, could have blown the internal fuse as well.
Also, there is again the distinct possibility that other supply circuits failed with this Reverse polarity energy supply.
Work across each supply circuit in turn, now the Battery is connected properly.
Ignition warning lights, gauges etc.
Headlights, Turn signals.
Wipers, washers.
Remote locking, Alarm.
Engine startup, Alternator charge output.
A/c operationand Heater/Blower controls, and function.
Best of luck.

I have a combination single pole switch. Light switch and receptacle. In have running in the old box 2 white, 2 black and a ground. How do I install the new switch to have power to the light switch and...

You are replacing old switch-receptacle device.
New device also has switch and receptacle.
You want switch to control light, but not receptacle.
You want receptacle 'hot' all the time.

You have 2 cables that enter box.
Each cable has white, black and ground wires.
Ground wires are twisted together and attached to green ground screws and not discussed more.

Screws on new device:
Side 1 of device: New device has dark screw(s) or brass screws on one side ... these screws are connected together by brass plate. This side is the Hot side of device.

Side 2 of device: Other side has 2 separate and unconnected screws. These screws are not connected in any way. Each of the 2 disconnected screws sits opposite the switch and opposite the plug.

Cables.
One cable comes from breaker box. This cable has a Hot and Neutral wire. The Hot is black. Neutral is white.
The other cable goes to Load (light). Black supplies power to Load (light), and white connects to Neutral.
If you are uncertain which is which, testing is shown below.

Connect the device:
Side 1 of device: Black Hot goes to dark colored screw(s) that are connected by brass plate. (This is only wire connected to this side of device)
Side 2 of device: Black that goes to Load (light) connects to screw that sits opposite the switch.
Side 2 of device: White Neutral connects to screw that sits opposite the plug

One wire is left .. the white from light. This white wire connects to white Neutral wire. Since white neutral is already connected to device, look on back of device to see if there is a quick-connect hole for you to shove wire into back of device. If device doesn't have quick-connect, then twist white wires together, and add a short jumper wire to device, and then all the whites are connected to neutral. Circuit is complete.

How to test for Hot and Neutral
Separate wires.
Turn on power.
Test each wire to bare ground.
Tester lights up on hot wire.
Now test hot wire to other wires.
Tester lights up on neutral

2004 Mazda Rx-8 When I was fixing the cable

Make sure to check all fuses under the hood and inside the car. If there was a short then a fuse, fuses or fusible links is shot. Check the big fuses or circuit breakers. Remove them, one at a time and check for continuity with an ohmeter; you can also touch one side to the positve battery pole and test the other side for power with the test light connected to ground. Let me know what you come up with.

2004 Galant Battery Fuse... or Fusible Link

so you reversed the connections and you think you nuked something? Right?

Check all fuses and relays. Replace any fuses that are blown and all relays that look scorched/burnt.
If that doesn't work, take to dealer to make sure the computer and advanced control electronics didn't get fried.
