Hi Brian it could be a weak radiator cap, check this first after this you may need to go to a mechanic to check head gasket.

Hi, Elanza the following applies to carbureted also fuel injected models and the usual suspects are:

2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, O2, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. . Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
10. Fuel tank empty.
11. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.

Overflow tank not storing coolant.

Don't jump the gun and replace the head gaskets like the guy need to have a technician look at it...can be a minor issue or something totally different. I had the problem with my stratus and paid tons of money to do the heads...never solved the issue and heads were done right. Its was blockage with in the coolant system and was discovered til my water pump went out.

I have a 2009 zzr 1400 with a bad flat spot between 3 and 4 thousand revs, has just started, any help please

2 and 3 thousand RPM will lug this bike depending on what gear you are in. You could also have a timing or vacuum issue if it's a hesitation when you twist it. I'd run a can of Seafoam through a tank of gas first to clean the fuel system, intake valves and combustion chambers. Hope this helps.

Smells like gas when I drive

That could be a slow leak that is hard to find. or fuel too rich. Try to clean and dry off fuel lines carbs and tank. check often as you ride for wet fuel in those areas.does full or near empty tank make any difference?if so check that old tank real well.Dont fill tank to the very top, you should fill to bottom of tank neck and stop to leave room for fuel expansion. There are a few tank repair treatment available that would seal the inside of tank if needed.
