Question about Yamaha Grizzly 600 4x4 98 Airbox Air Box

Sunk my 600 grizzly in a creek got alot of water in the motor,anyway i flushed the motor several times with new oil then done an oil change. Its running great but now the tranny is slipping. Any ideas

Take the plates out, and clean them I would do a quick wash in petrol or thinners, then immediately soak in hot oil,

Is it belt drive , if it is you might pull cover off and clean out mud and water .

I'm getting ready to change the head gaskets on my 2003 chevy malibu. I have water in my motor where everything looks like a creamy milk shake.


I would think it would be better after you change the head gasket and drain the old oil from the system. Then check the new oil and depending of how much water you are seeing in the new oil you may want to flush the engine. I suspect it will not be necessary because the time it takes to change the head gasket will also allow for the excess water to drain to the oil pan.

Hi,if this is automatic then you may have got water in the system,so will have to drain fluid, replace filter and fluid and hopefully it should be ok.

You will need to drain the oil if water got into it and flush the motor with a good oil flush, you will need to drain the carb to make sure there is no water in the bowl,, and dry the breather and airbox out, you should also make sure that water is not in the axles if shaft driven

Johnson 5hp motor sunk in a lake for 2 days--what needs to be checked?


Quick pull the spark plugs and fill with any kind of oil-(WD-40 works best) Then look down the carb and dump a cup down the intake and spin it over by hand till it is free(still no plugs). Finally spray wd-40 up under the flywheel. Physically shake the motor. Spin with the starter to clear the motor of water.

WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER handy. Put in a trash can with water and clean fuel and try to make it start. If it starts, keep it going for 1/2 hour to get it warm and dry out the insides.

If you ever can't work on a sunk motor for a day or two, keep it sunk do not try and dry it with out oils and leave it where the air can get to it for even a few hours.

My cbr 600 f2 has gas in oil why and what would cause this


This could be caused by worn needles, gummy gas, or sunk floats. But it can also happen to a brand new motorcycle. If one needle sticks, it can fill a cylinder with gas , that then flows past the rings into the oil. Try using some fuel system cleaner in your tank (Chevron Techron will clean the carbs and the motor). But most of all ,when not riding, ALWAYS TURN OFF YOUR FUEL PETCOCK.

It is a well Known problem within the 2.7 L family ...
Here is the deal Go to the dealer get a Mopar oil sending unit.
once under the vehicle look to behind oil pan about center ways and take pigtail (wire) off sensor then remove unit .
once removed if alot of sludge is there clean area very good then install new unit and inspect wire if it connection even looks bad cut wire and add new wire (MAKE SURE TO USE HEAT SHRINK TAPE OR LIQIUD ELECTRICAL TAPE TO SEAL WIRE COMPLETELY. >>>>NOT JUST ELECTRIC TAPE<<<<)
Ok now thats done plug wire back into unit .
Note: 2.7 L engines also have sludge problems and need to have engine flush and oil pan dropped clean oil pump screen and pan then start useing synthetic oil you should be able to go about 10,000 miles useing synthetic and you will have to only change filter 2 or 3 times . this should solve issue and help extend life of motor. Good Day,

Sounds like the thermostat is working properly, the only other cause for the valve/lifter noise could be the oil pump is not pumping enough oil up to the top of the motor. I suggest doing an oil change(if you haven'y aleready), be sure to flush several quarts through, after sitting for 5 years I'm sure the old oil is pretty sludgy, this well help rule out this possibilty. As far as the water pump goes, It either works or doesn't typically when they are on there way out the will leak from the gaskets. A bad head gasket would cause white smoke form the exhaust as coolant get's into the oil and is burned off, so I don;t hink this is the problem.

Dawn detergent in rinse aid dispensor


I did the same. I have run the washer several times but with the rinse aid cup open. Then flushed it by adding water and using a turkey baster to **** the water out. Then used a small amount of liquid fabric softner to reduce the suds. Then flushed it several more times with clear water. The turkey baster will fit into the cup better if you can remove the inside cup cover that dials the amount of dispensing (at least in my brand of dishwasher). I also forced paper towels into the cup opening several times to sop up as much liquid as possible until the indicater light for rinse aid showed empty.  This took some time but by the end of the day, the suds diminished.  Note: I no longer keep Dawn under the sink cabinet where the rinse aid is kept!
