Question about Motorcycles

1996 Vulcan 1500 cclassic will start and ideal also go into every gear but barely pulls not even enough to get me down the drive way! What causes this?

Problem with second gear


i will tell u first the easy fix Before you do your next oil change, try adding some SeaFoam to the crankcase and ride for 50 to 100 miles. This should help remove any junk on the clutch plates. I'd also switch to another oil brand and see if it makes any difference.
if it will still do the same:
maybe the engagement dogs on the gears are damaged and probably the shift fork as well. The gears will stay engaged at lower torque but when the torque is great enough it causes them pull apart.

1997 kaw 1500 vulcan, will not shift into 2nd gear, is this something I can fix myself, or does it need to go to a shop


the 96 and 97 vulcan classic 4 speed transmission is garbage. Fixed mine 3 times. still no 2nd gear. Shame on you you Kawasaki.
My advice, drive it off a cliff somewhere and then go buy a honda vtx.

95 vulcan 1500 pours gas out of the overflow tubes after start up


Fuel bowl needle is bad and not seating properly to seal the bowl when enough fuel has entered, thus it overflows out of the vent tubes.

What is the gear ratios and final drive ratios on a vulcan 1500


For the gears:


Gear ratios:1st 2.500 (40/16) 2nd 1.590 (35/22) 3rd 1.192 (31/26) 4th 0.965 (28/29) 5th 0.781 (25/32) Final Reduction Ratio 2.619 (15/21 x 33/9) and the final drive is a shaft drive.

My '94 Kawasaki Vulcan will not start with the clutch engaged. It will start in neutral (kick stand is down), but will stall when the clutch is engaged to put the bike in gear.


hi,this might help,without looking at the bike it sounds like either the kickstand switch or the clutch lockout switch has failed,either switch failing will cause the problem you describe as they are both linked in the wiring harness..hope this helps...cheers ian

I have a 1996 Vulcan 88 1500. Cranks but will not start.


Is there gas? Is the petcock on? Are you getting gas to the carbs? Are you getting spark? If yes to all these then you may have timing issues.

Starting and once started won't run


The problem seem to involve a number of circuits, I would suspect the Key switch as it supplies power to all affected systems. The dieing on release of the clutch is usually the kickstand safety switch. If the kick stand is not up, and the bike in gear, then when the clutch switch detects release is kills the engine so you don't kill your self.
Check or replace these switches.

No oil presure at the oil presure senser switch


Check with your dealer, but I believe on that enginee, the oil pump has a nylon drive gear. THis gear has been shreding on that modle from 1988 to 1999. It Happed to me. I called customer service at Kawasaki, and after some haggling, they assumed all the costs to fix the bike.I have a 1997 1500 A modle Vulcan.
