I would disconnect the voltage coil or generator coil and check it for short to open. and crank it over to see if any voltage is coming out of it all, but doing this make sure the engine does not crank pull wires or plugs which ever is easier for you to do, then we will go from there, oh yes then check all plugs inside connectors tighten up all connectors male and female to make sure contact is made between all of them at the rectifier and everywhere else then get back to me.

Oh yes the most important of all, you have to make sure you have a clip on the connector either male or female because you want to check either side for continuity by doing a wiggle test ok.Because the vibration can crack the wire in half right where the wire goes into the harness right at the tip of the connector part and sadly the wiggle test will not be easy but it has to be done as does continuity on the wires from end to end ok.

I have a 660 and i put a new battery in it and it is.not charging do anyone have a diagram on how to.install a new charging system.

could be the stator or rectifier. rectifiers are easy to test since they're just a diode bridge to convert ac to dc. you'll need a service manual to check the stator. check the bluetraxx forum for one maybe.

If I run the generator for several hours it will die do to low charge on battery

Check the battery voltage before you start it at the generator. IE 12V start the generator and measure again. It should be around 13.8V if it does not rise, go to the charge rectifier in the genset and make sure you have AC going onto it. (Assuming you have the gen battery charge option) If you don't have ACV you can suspect the B stator windings, if you do have AC. Check the rectifier DC output 13.8V if present check wiring and fuses, if not present change the rectifier, note where the wires go ! The battery is dying because the ignition system of the gen is pulling it down and it is not charging.

I've got a 07 Grizzly 450 that I just recently purchased, I took it out this weekend for it's first long ride and it quit charging. Where do I start looking for problems? Stator rectifier or both, Also is...

The best way is to purchase the service manual and follow the instructions. Otherwise you can use a volt meter and do the voltage test at the battery while the engine is running is should be 14 volts at 1000rpm. If this doesn't check out, you then have to find out whether it's the stator or rectifier. Check the ac magneto charging coil resistance (right at the coupler) with your testor set to ohms. If this test checks out then its the rectifier, if it fails then it's your stator. The best and safest way is to use the service manual to do any work yourself. Good luck!

Battery went dead & I replaced battery with a new battery, wont hold a charge. Is the stater bad?

If the battery is good, but the bike is not charging, it is either the stator or the regulator/rectifier. If you confirm that the stator is good (resistance and output check) then the regulator/rectifier is the problem.

I was driving it n turn off i put a new battery but keeps killing it it wont charge

check for loose or disconnected plugs leading from your stator and rectifier circuitry. a good fully charge battery should read about 12.6v.-12v.8v.

I have a 1980 suzuki 850 gs and its not charging the battery properly what should i do and where is the charging system located on the engine

As suggested, check the voltage with the engine running accross the battery. If its below 14 volts you have an issue with the stator windings/regulator/rectifier/wiring.
Do the cheapest thing first and clean up all electrical connections, esp the earths.
A manual will tell you how to test the charging system, but the Suzuki GS range has always had charging issues.
The simplist method is to fit the combined reg/rectifier unit from a Honda CB250/400 Superdream.
Always keep your engine oil topped to the max mark, as this cools the stator.
Dont leave this, it is not unknown for the entire system to fail including the CDI if left unchecked.

New battery but still not charging. Is the regulator rectifier built into the alternator and are they servicable

Rectifier should be seperate and normally are about the size of the palm of your hand and have fins like a radiator. From your stator check for A/C voltage coming from your stator. No power = bad stator. If you have power check for bad grounds for rectifier or replace rectifier. 1st thing though is to check your battery cables...

Having problem with bike keeping charge new battery but wondering how to check stator, i took positive cable and negative cable and bike died wandering if it supposed to stay running with one or the other...

yes it should just replaced the regulator rectifier on my friends bike same problem as yours he kept replaceing battery and rechargeing it. it was the regulator( 5 wire box just to the left of the seat on his 01 gsxr 750) it costed 81.00 from bikebandit.com
to test it you can start by putting a volt meter on the battery and checking volts off (12v) and then running, it should go above 13v if the volts dont go up then its prob the regulator rectifier box to check your stator i use my meter for hertz or cycles or a tach one wire to ground and one wire to the yellow wires from the stator one at a time the tach should read same as the one on the bike on all three wires
hopefully it reads good cause it is a whole lot easer to replace the vrr than the stator

good luck
hope i helped

Check the rectifier, its responsible for charging the battery when running, the fuse too, however the rectifier if it can not be repaired, better to buy a new one......................sodeep
