Question about Triumph Motorcycles
Probably the kickstand safety switch has gone bad or is loose. The safety kills the engine when you put it in gear to keep you from riding off with the stand down. This is assuming your bike has one as I don't see the model & year listed with your question but most modern bikes have them, also assuming you've raised the stand before putting it in gear. If you can find the connector, disconnect it and put a piece of wire in it to close the circuit, then try to put in gear again. If it works and the switch isn't just loose you know you need the switch replaced.
