Question about Harley Davidson Motorcycles

1 Answer

I've got a 2008 Heritage. I am getting about 135 miles per tank. Everyone I've talked to gets about 200-225 per tank. I had it in the shop to put a stage 1 on it. Hotter plug work or?

Hi Brian, there is always a trade off when seeking more performance and usually its fuel milage especially on heavier bikes. That being said going from 42 mpg to 27mpg is a bit excessive. Was there a significant change for the better in performance? Did they go larger injectors or bigger jets? Dialing those down a bit would increase mpg. Also was any remaping involved? I would go back to the shop and ask them if loosing half of your mpg is normal for a stage one kit. Good luck

2008 RSTD. Supposedly 6gallon tank only gets 130 miles range. Dealer says its designed to only be able to use 4 gallons. What's up with that?

According to the Royal Star Spec Sheet,
It has 5.3 gallon tank and the "estimated" mileage is listed at 42 mpg. So let's be realistic and figure 35 mpg is more inline with reality... and if you're using 4 gallons it would be 135 miles , if you're using 5 it would be 175 miles. You'd want to have some reserve left so figure 4 gallons usable (before you need to fill it again). So the dealer's 4 gallon figure is in the ballpark. The 130 miles per tank, could be improved with how it's driven... but the mileage figures they publish.... I don't know of anyone who can achieve them... Hope this helps with your question. Have fun on that thing!

2007 kia rondo seems to use alot of gas

I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.

Real Life experiance, if you ride your bike at high speeds, even with Over Drive engaged, I end up doing about 180~200 miles per 5~5.25 gallons which breaks out to about 36~38 mpg.

Course, slowing it down to 60~65, in OT will get you another 25~35 miles per tank extra. If you need better MPG, suggest the 650 for the job, The litter is solid for rider/passenger, as the 650 is more for the rider only with added mileage clearly in the 40+mpg rating..

How many gallons per hour does this car lose?

hey
at the begging u should clarify how many gallon u used.
112 miles at 28 miles per gallon --> 4 gallons burned (112/28)
So that means we leaked 11 - 4 = 7 gallons

Now figure out how long the car was driving.
112 miles at 64 miles per hour --> 1.75 hours

So, leak was at a rate of 7 gallons in 1.75 hours
7/1.75 = 4 gallons per hour leaked.
