Hi there. The ''default'' settings are :
step #1 turn the mixture and idle screw all the way in clockwise
step #2 you turn counter clockwise the mixture screw for 1,5 rounds, and the idle screw when the motor can run freely without going off.
#3 Then you adjust the mixture screw if you do not like the outcome by micro movements clockwise. Hope i helped.

Hi Leroy, there are two setings, idle screw which if i rember corectly is bigger than the air fuel mixture screw. First start engine and warm it up to operating temperature and set idle screw to 1000 rpm then slowly turn air fuel mixture screw clockwise untill the rpms start to drop, it may also rise first then drop off, any ways when you reach that drop off point back the screw out untill max rpms is obtained then if necessary reset the idle screw back to 1000 rpm or what sounds and feels comfortable to you. Good luck
P.S. I had a 1978 CL305 had a stock tuned exhast the made such a sweet sound that's never been duplicated since, fond memories

Release stuck float valve honda cbr 1988 carb

You may need to completely clean the carb with a carb cleaner. If bike was setting over winter and not started, the old gas breaks down leaving grime on internal carb parts. I understand the gas now-a-days with 10% ethinol breaks down after about 2 months.
A carb kit can be purchased with new parts that can
also help in most cases.

Honda cl400 has been sitting for 4to5 years. what would be the best thing to do before trying to start it. the fluids are still in it

for sure drain and replace the fuel,, oil change with filter,, and be ready to replace old brittle gaskets,, the carbs and needles will more than likely have to be cleaned if you have them,,

1973 Honda CB450 carb problems

Turn the air screw and throttle screw all the way inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them one and one half turns. That is the factory setting. Chances are the carbs are gummed up with varnish from evaporated gas. Disassemble the carbs and soak them in denatured alcohol for 30 minutes. Now clean them with spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. You need to be sure all the jets and fuel circuits are clear. You may need a service manual sometime. Here is a website that looks like it may have a free download. Even if they want $20 or so, a service manual is handy to have around. http://www.mediafire.com/?jnyzijmfydw

How do you set the carbs on a 1971 Honda CL175? It runs but idles high and when you get it up to higher speeds it dogs. I am thinking that I jsut need to tune the carbs but not sure.

yes, you need to tune the carbs, by adjusting the low and high speed jets. there should be to slotted screws on the carbs, this is an older m/c, that is the set up. start bike and try tuning them. the carbs may need cleaning if you cant adjust

How many quarts of oil do i put in 1999 acura cl 3.0

4.6 QUARTS PER SERVICE MANUAL. DONT FORGET TO USE OIL THAT IS SPECIFIC FOR HONDA. HONDAS AND ACURAS ARE CRAZY WITH HAVING TO HAVE HONDA OIL, HONDA COOLANT, (50/50 WATER, COOLANT) AND HONDA FILTERS AND HONDA BRAKE OIL AND POWER STEERING FLUID. I HAVE FOUND THAT USING HONDA FLUIDS CAN STOP A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND PREVENT DAMAGE.
