Most likely you have an ignition problem and moisture obviously makes it worse. What I do is start the bike and cover it best I can with a sheet or do it in a darker place, in the evening. I spray a mist of water especially around the coils and spark plug wires and look for a light blue glow, meaning the insulating qualities have broken down. Coils and spark plug wires are often the culprit as they are more exposed and do a lot of work.

Honda sabre

I have an 04 Honda Sabre 1100 that does the same thing. If the rain is steady, it will actually die. After you come to a stop, it will start right away and run ok for a little while until you get up to speed in the rain and will die again. Very frustrating. Can't see any shorting when viewing in dark conditions. Bike shop also couldn't figure anything out. Any ideas?
If I figure anything out, I'll repost what worked for me.

1997 Honda CBR 600 F running rough in the rain

Hi, Jjc0651 moisture, condensation, rain, or bike washing can make the bike run sluggish, not able to rev, and misfire. Older bikes, engine configuration, and exposed electrical components are at the front of the line for acting up. During the diagnostic procedure spray Electrical Contact Cleaner on corroded wire connectors/pins/sockets etc. and apply a liberal amount of "DIELECTRIC" grease to the mating harness/wire connectors. WD40 works great for eliminating suspect areas in your quest to find the real offending gremlin.
For additional insurance you can spray a High Temp Clear Coat on the most vulnerable areas it will work like Scotch Guard does on fabric. Fabricate a rubber or plastic splash guard to deflect water coming off the front wheel getting to the front cylinder spark plugs. The design should be adequate for its purpose with the least amount of air flow restriction to cool the cylinders. The usual suspects are:
1. Air filter soaked with water.
2. Water in the fuel system gas tank and carburetors.
3. Wet ignition coil packs.
4. Spark plug boots wore out or loose allowing water to enter.
5. Spark plug cables old check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Spark plug wells filled up and drain holes clogged.
7. Water in a wire harness that has exposed open ends and have a sharp bend or kinc allowing the liquid to form its own pool of potential threats to chaffed wiring.
8. Sensitive fuel tuners and downloaded ECM remaps may get confused with the abnormal cylinder temperature difference in a V-4 engine configuration.

1999 Suburban 5.7L Misfires when it rains.

Did you change the plug wires?A good way to find an ignition problem is to take a spray bottle with water and spray your engine. This will show up bad wires or ignition arcing in the dark.Try spraying the coil also.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I have a Saturn 2005 ion. When we get a heavy rain the car's alarm goes off and last about for 30 beeps of the horn and it does this many times during the rain storm - our neighbours are ready to through...

easiest fix is cut wire to siren and install switch in wire and turn off if u know its going to rain, sounds like there is a wire exposed that when it gets wet it trips alarm does this happen when running or only when off?

Yamaha Virago Cutting out in the wet

Hi,

I had the same problem with mine. Its a dodgy ignition coil i found a spray of wd40 on it would fix it for a while by driving out the moisture. I've since put a piece of plastic bag around it which helps alot. Should really give in and buy a new coil though
