Question about Yamaha FZR 1000 Motorcycles

1 Answer

What model is my Yamaha FZR 1000?

The serial number on the frame and engine is: YM *2GH-004152*. on the inside of the frame at the front are two numbers: 7016 and 2GH.21311.00. What do these numbers mean and where can I download a free workshop manual? I recently bought the bike off a guy who stripped it and never put it back together. It's also the first bike I've ever bought or owned. Please help!!!

SOURCE: frame number

ZDM = manufacturer code (i.e. region code Z = Europe, country code D = Italy, manufacturer code M = Ducati)

3H99R = TYPE = model information: model, engine type (manufacturer assigned code). For US models, Ducati uses the last three digits to indicate the engine type.

9 = check digit for factory use. A single number or the letter X (varies) used to verify the accuracy of the transcription of the VIN

1 = Model Year 2001

A = model year 1980 B = model year 1981 C = model year 1982 D = model year 1983 E = model year 1984 F = model year 1985 G = model year 1986 H = model year 1987

J = model year 1988 K = model year 1989 L = model year 1990 M = model year 1991 N = model year 1992

P = model year 1993

R = model year 1994 S = model year 1995 T = model year 1996

V = model year 1997 W = model year 1998 X = model year 1999 Y = model year 2000

1 = model year 2001 2 = model year 2002 3 = model year 2003

B = plant of manufacture (manufacturer assigned code), B = Bologna

012329 = six digit serial number. Some manufacturers restart at 000001 each model year, while others just continue sequentially. Some use different number groups for different models.

Looking for the make of a frame with this serial number U485606471 or U4356064171

Locating your bike's serial number. The majority of serial numbers are located under the bottom bracket where the two pedal cranks meet. Simply turn your bike upside down and record the number. If there is no serial number there then check places like the headset at the front of the bike or the rear stays.

Where is the engine number

The frame serial number is stamped on the
right side of the frame down tube.
The VIN number label is located just below
the frame number on the right side frame down tube.
The engine serial number is stamped on a pad on the left
side of the crankcase and the right side of the
crankcase. not sure if the VRods are the same.
