Hi Barry:
Sounds like there is a dead short happening in the # 2 position. Trace the wire to determine what is supposed to be happening at #2..... There will probably be a grounded connector. Gotta love those old bikes.

Hi Barry:
There will probably be a dead short in the light circuit. Check all of the junctions.

Only on the 1st cold start of the day the starter 1/2 cranks and kicks out 2 or 3 times before my 5.2L truck cranks over and starts. What is the cause?

The starter is dieing. Bendix inside of it is weak(kicks out) and 1/2 or slow crank is dragging (bearings, armiture)

I have a 2000 CR 250, has always ran perfect and now will not start or fire. It has spark and is getting fuel to the carb(cleaned it spotless) air filter clean also. Fuel is fresh (use non-ethanol Supreme)...

Try starting it with a brief spray of ether into the intake. If it runs briefly it indicates a fuel/carb problem.

If it doesn't run the problem could be spark related, poor induction due to crank seals or other air leaks or perhaps oil is settling in the crankcase and corrupting the incoming charge.

1995 honda odyssey starts and then dies

Isince it cranks, means you have power, elctric system is ok! I guess.. this could be a result of gas delivery problem... either a pump or gas circuit controller.... OR a small propable reason if you have an immobilizer (electronic chip on key!)... but there should be the securit key highlithed on dashboard...

Lost key 2 my 1980 yamaha 650 special bike.is there any way 2 by pass ignition or hot wire theres only 3 wires 2it bike has a kick starter and a pushbutton..key supposed 2 b in on position and switch...

One wire is neutral(ground) one is hot and one is starter-if you cross the hot with the neutral and then touch the starter wire to it or kick it you will get it running, if it was running before anyway. if you have a test light use that to find the live wires and if not i suggest you buy one to figure it out because they arent expensive and you WILL use it again if you work on your own 1980 bike. good luck! Also if you are going to drive it like that for about $10 you should be able to buy a push button and kill switch to eliminate the ignition-just hide the kill switch well enough to keep someone from keifing your ride.

My 2008 Ninja 250 tires to start itself

The switch is the most likely source of the problem. Check it with a volt ohmmeter. Put the key in off and check the terminals. Next turn the key to the 1st position and check the terminals then on any further positions. The next time the bike self starts is when you want to re-check the switch terminals.

You know, this has all the signs of an internal short in the switch. Just tell the dealer to give you a new switch. Switch failure after 5 hours of riding is simply unacceptable.

Starting and once started won't run

The problem seem to involve a number of circuits, I would suspect the Key switch as it supplies power to all affected systems. The dieing on release of the clutch is usually the kickstand safety switch. If the kick stand is not up, and the bike in gear, then when the clutch switch detects release is kills the engine so you don't kill your self.
Check or replace these switches.

Hope this is of some help.

Honda Shadow 600 c won't start in gear after battery change

The kickstand switch is either bad or bent out of position. See if you can activate the switch manually. Does the bike run now? If so, the switch is bent out of position. If it still won't run, jumper the wires together until you can replace the switch.
