SOURCE: won't idle steadily

Check the rubber boot that joins the carby to the engine to often have seen the hose clamps over tightened therefore creating a split in the rubber letting to much air in giving the rough idle eventually you wont be able to start it at all (have a good thorough look inside an outside of boot doesnt take much)

SOURCE: 1983 Yamaha Seca 750 no spark

Check the battery should be 12V or more , Then check the coils the connections are under the gas tank make sure they are securely connected.
What kind of fuse box do you have? The glass fuses? Or did you replace the fuse box. If it is the glass fuses you need to replace with a new fuse box.
Check the kill switch and the side stand switch.
Check the coils too..

With the ignition on, short across the starter solenoid and see if anything happens. If it tries to start (or fires up) then the problem lies with the feed to it so I would suggest re-instating a working push button and wires.

Sounds like a bad coil pack. You know your battery is good since it turns over. Does it turn over using the key without using a wrench across solenoid?. Put a voltmeter on leads before the coil and see that it is getting 12V Measure ohms on the output to the spark plug to see if any output there. If not, Here is a link for coil pack if it is faulty

2006 yamaha bruin will not start by push button. Battery is fine, all lights come on but when button is pushed nothing happens

Hi. Depending on your skill level the starting point would be check "ALL" the fuses with a test light/multimeter. Next point would probably be check the starter itself, Again with a test light or multimeter you should have the main positive to the starter - make sure you have good battery voltage and check this whilst attempting to crank. Then the crank feed itself which is the small wire to the starter solenoid, Again check for good voltage whilst attempting to crank. If there is voltage on both then make sure the starter has a good earth by using the starter motor body as the earth whilst testing the main feed at the starter. If you have good main feed and crank the starter has failed. If not you need to post your test results for further help, Jon

For the first problem. Most likely the clutch is holding to tight and needs to be adjusted. Next problem. Check this first. Check the
connections on the battery post, make sure they are clean and tight. Next the carburetor may have flooded and hydro locked the piston. Make sure the battery is fully charged and the battery post are clean and tight. Retry starting the engine, if you only have the clicking sound, move the ATV to a location where gasoline cannot be ignited by a flame or spark including the sparkplug wire. Remove the sparkplug, move the sparkplug wire into a location where it is not close to ground so it will not create a spark. Try to crank the engine and see if it will spin, if it spins it will spew out gas if it was hydro locked. If the engine was hydro locked crank the engine a little more expelling as much gas as possible. Leave the spark plug out for a while so the remaining
gasoline in the cylinder will have time to evaporate. Clean and
reinstall the sparkplug. Try starting the engine, if the engine starts, reset the adjustments you made to the carburetor prior to having the dying problem. If the engine was not hydro locked and will not spin, and you only hear the clicking sound when trying to start the engine, you may have a problem with the starter or starter solenoid should it have a solenoid. I do think the engine will be hydro locked. Provided the battery, was fully charged the battery terminals were clean and the starter circuit is ok.

Starts and runs for a minute then dies as if starved for fuel or loses spark

Isolate problem first! Change fuel filter and check to see if the gas is contaminated or at a low level in the fuel tank. Until the engine runs for a while with the gas coming out as it should, you can't know if sparking is the problem!

If you did not put in a new battery, try that. Your old battery probably doesn't charge up enough.

My 2001 Yamaha R1 has an issue. I put the key in and turn it on, everything lights up fine, but when I press the start button nothing happens.

If you push the starter button and hear a click the starter button is good. If you do not hear a click, put power to the two skinny solenoid activation wires(+ and -), if you hear a click now you have a bad starter button. Clean or replace the switch. Follow the positive battery cable to the solenoid, short across the battery power cable and the starter power cable. If the starter works you need a new solenoid. If you tap on the starter with a plastic hammer while holding the starter button, and it works, you need new starter brushes. If you take the starter apart and the coils are burnt or the armature is shorted you need a new starter.

My 06 gsxr 750 will not start. New battery, getting fuel, replaced old fuel and bike will not turn over. What can I do to check if is getting spark?

if the bike will not turn over you mean it doesnt crank? because if it doesnt crank over then its a starter issue and could be a simple as a blow fuse, but then why did the fuse blow? ( starter going bad)..... or it could be the starter solenoid itself, and this is where i believe you might find the fuse. response feedback appreciated.

Bike won't turn all the way over

Check if the spark plugs are getting sparks and check too if they are wet with gas.
