A faulty steering pump is the most likely I guess. You would need to jack up the front of the vehicle, support with axle stands and get underneath and above to check, whilst someone is turning the wheel.
I had a strange thing like that on my ES330, and I told the dealership it was the right front, and it was a worn wheel bearing on the left rear, worn rear sway bar bushes and worn vertical tie rod bushings on the right rear! Scraping noise on left curves at 60 kph.
Hi,food for thought, have you checked that the wheele bearing is not worn(put bike on centre stand hold wheele on tyre 6 clock and pull with one hand and push with other hand)and see if you can feel eney play in the bearing,if so replace, also with bike still on back wheele spine wheele and see if it pins freely and that the discs are not warped,if not then if there is a fork brace check that it is tight ,check that the head racers are not loose or worn, with bike still on centre stand hold weele with one hand and front brake with other hand push and pull with wheele strate towards and away from bike and feel for play if there is try tightening,if not, then turn front forks left and right still holding the forks and wheele in same place do this slowly and when the wheele gose past the centre piont(strate)feel for eney notchy ness,if not bearing should be ok,if there is notchy ness replace,if its none of these I would get the wheele rechecked that it was balanced right, all the best hope you get to the bottom of the problem.
Do you know exactly where the oil is coming from? Remember the bike has an oil cooler at the front, could you have disturbed a connection and its running down the pipe?
The GS1150 is a real pain to get the precise oil level, and you may have just over filled it. As you are sitting on the bike, on the right hand side below the airbox (near the rear shouck adjuster), is a little plug. Just twist it to undo it and see if any oil comes out here.
My method to check the oil level on flat ground: After a run park the bike on its side stand for 10 mins. Place on the centre stand, wait anoth 5-10 mins, then check the oil level in the sight glass.
compare it to the right side remove and straighten or replace to make it look like the right side if the right side is noticably straight to be able to compare to.
Sounds like a bent spindle or cross member or both
also possibly worn bushings or bearings--spindle bushings and or wheel bushings /bearings
it's not hard to do if you have the tools and torque wrench needed for the job. with the bike on it's center stand, remove the exhaust, rear wheel and then the lever giving access to the bearing. installation of the lever is the hard part. you must tighten and secure the lever bolts properly for safety (get a manual for tightening procedure and torque specs). bleeding the clutch is easy, ensure you use the right fluid.
On centre stand grab front wheel and check for smooth side to side/ no play back and forth (head bearings or front shock bush problem) Low tyre pressure? Half your wardrobe in the panniers?

It's the service manual for the 1150GS, but the figures are the same.
Yes , it may require some light lubricating at around the stand but first you will need to clean up throughly around the stand fittings better to use WD40 and thn some mineral oil as lubricant.
Not bad too to check the spring of its tension!
Hope this helps!
Problem was solved, many thanks.
