Hi,

I have a 1997 chevrolet malibu. All of a sudden, my car starting leaking alot of oil and it seems as if it's coming from the top. I checked the oil filter and it's screwed on tight. I can't see the whole top of the engine because there is a part that is of good size that has some bolts on it. The part has to be removed so I can see what is underneath. The oil is spewing out from the top on the right hand side. Is there a hose or something up there? Any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

You might have bend your oil pan or oil hoses. if you don't see any crack or dent on the them, then it could be bend and leaking from the top of the oil pan gasket. small problem easy to fix. make sure do not drive until you fix the problem .car can stop running when all the oil is out and will not be able to run again. if oil pan is bend then it is leaking from the oil pan gasket because the pan is no longer staright after it got bend. you have to take it down and straighten it back. make sure check all the oil hoses that run from the oil pan to the transmission and the raditor cooler. the hoses could be metal and rubber.

Sounds like u have a cracked oil pan, requires removal from engine and either welding or new pan estimate cost around $300 and up depending on location and if other damage

Oil coming from top right? You mean drivers side? Head Gasket. Check your oil for coolant and coolant for oil.

I have a 1997 Malibu I JUST bought that I am having some weirdness with. My coolant light will come on and go off on steep hills (normal), but also it came on today while I was on my way back to my Island from the Maine-Land XD. I am not leaking coolant, I have no coolant in oil or oil in coolant, BUT I looked underneath the car and noticed oil on my passenger side A-Frame. I can't tell where it is coming from due to the plastic bash plate, which I will remove in about a half hour. I also think my thermostat is sticking... with a gasket leak on it... a bad fluid level sensor, and I also figure my float is sticking. Too much minor b/s to go through all at once. I'll also end up flushing her, replacing my water pump, and find out where this oil is coming from and put a stop to that.

2002 grandprix car fell in pothole hit something undercarriage when motor gets hot heavy smoke comes out but not from radiator

First check your oil then locate the oil leak you may have punched a hole in the oil pan, the oil is hitting the hot exhaust manifold or pipes so look closely at valve covers and anything leaking onto the manifold.

first the car didn`t stooped leaking it is simply the transmission lubricant is lost all of it
if you didn`t hit a road bump or something underneath
probably it will be the oil sealing and/or universal joints .

Hi
It sounds like the sump gasket is leaking, this can happen over time and with a car of this age is not unusual, the gasket should cost no more than say £10 GBP and labour would be about 1 hour max.

Hope this helps

It could be a broken Oil Pump, Is there oil in the engine or when you hit the pothole you could have hit the Exhaust Pipe and broke the pipe causing a Exhaust Leak.

start by checking the pcv system, it may be pulling oil out of the crankcase, nest check the valve guides, if all seems good do a cylinder leak down test, you may have an internal problem
