Laars LG 250,000 Bypassed Safty's But NO Burner Light

I replaced the pilot generator and pressure valve (it was leaking) but can NOT get the burner to light. I bypassed all safty's and the burner still will not light. I read in another thread to jump the "TH" connections on the gas valve. I will try that.

I don't know if the gas valve or the temp controll unit is bad.

Other suggestions from anyone?? All help is appreciated.

Thanks, Goober444

Have you checked your pilot generator voltage while everything is connected properly? You may have a shorted wire or limit or even thermostat. If you jump the TH connections on the gas valve, it would lead to shorted, inoperable safety, thermostat.

If everything is connected properly, the MV reading should be 500+, less than this and you are losing power somewhere.

Where is a flame sensor located on a laars lg millivolt pool heater

first of all millivolt heaters dont have an actual flame sensor. flame rods are located in the electronic ignition models. The only "flame sensor" millivolt units have are the pilot generator or thermal pile. it also works as a safety, no pilot flame = no dc current, heater wont run

Teledyne Laars LD250 Propane Pool heater cycles on and back off

Do you replace the thermopile or check the milivolts?
Check the Pressure gas
You need replace all of them terminals and check again the milivolts at the gas valve

Pilot will stay on but burners will not ignite, checked all switches seem to be working allright, still no burner ignition

Possibly a flow switch not closed, or a limit switch open. May even be the pilot generator not producing enough mili-volts to operate the gas valve. Safest way is to have it serviced by a heating contractor. You dont have to call a pool company unless you wish.

Laars Lite 2 Gas-Pilot stays on, but main burner shuts off 10 min

A polit generator produces about 750 MV without a load. Under load it will drop to about 200-250 MV. If the system is working don't worry about it. If the system is not working replace the pilot generator and retest. Pilot generators usually go bad slowly.

Pilot on main burner won't light.

30 ohms is too high. You generally need it close to or below 1. You need to read the ohms across each switch to find the connection or switch that is holding up your control voltage from opening the valve. If that still doesn't work, jump the th terminals on the valve and see if the valve even opens. You may need a new valve.

Laars lite 2 pool heater burner not lite

If the pilot flame is not strong enough, it will not tell the gas valve to open, or if the gas valve is not getting the signal to open, it won't. Check all wire connections at the thermostat and gas valve. Check ground wires. Clean the pilot light and flame rod.
