That's happened to me so many times, I've lost count. It's almost always one of two things: a wire shorted to the frame, or a loose wire connection. These two issues are almost always in, or near downstream of, the battery circuit. Good luck.

Died and wont crank

If it died and won't crank, sounds like you lost power to something.
Does the warning lights come on when you turn the key on ?
Got headlights ?
A mechanic would check for voltage at the starter and work back from there.

Died today on the highway, just lost power and now it still turns over but no start. sparks good elctrical and pump. any ideas?

If you're getting spark, fuel, and all the electrical is good, id start with checking the cylinder compression.

If that turns up nothing the timing may have jumped.

1996 cadillac deville lost instruments and died while driving

This is how I fixed it, I took the plastic cover off the fuse box under the hood and found a "maxi fuse" was out and replaced it. I was suprised that a fuse could kill all electrical on the car while driving it. How scary is that?
