First check the level of cooling .After check cooling system when engine work open the radiator and check for cooling fluid moving or not when you throttle .Or may be have air in the cooling system and make air pillow.

Lose engine power at random times

What model Toyota? Later model cars have their engines controlled by an ECU which can cut out the engine when it senses problems such as low oil level, overheating etc. When ti ECU sense a problem it could cut the engine power to half )or less) of its full normal power to allow the vehicle to be driven at slow speed to the nearest service center.

Overheating 2001 ford

Check coolant level then make sure that the heating system is working on the hot side, once you've warmed up the engine check that all the water pipes are warming up ok, once the engine has reached its normal operating temperature you should hear the engine cooling fan cut in, if the engine coolant fan hasn't cut in at the right time you'll have to check the wiring and fuses for the cooling system.

Yamaha dt125r sm keeps overheating and cutting the engine off

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Low coolant level.
2. Restricted radiator air flow.
3. Faulty thermostat.
4. Coolant pump or fans inoperative.
5. Vent hose crimped.
6. Air in the coolant.

Overheating and no heater while doing so

Replace the oil sending unit, and see if the light will go off.Next fill radiator up full, and or reservoir. Then bleed the cooling system of air. This will cause the engine to run hot,and no heat inside the car.The best way to bleed it is to,fill reservoir up full,to top,run engine and cut engine off before it gets hot, about 218,then wait about 30 to 45 minutes and check level in reservoir. It should have dropped.Refill, and repeat untill engine runs cool, and cooling fans cut on,and cut off by themselves.Do this with ac and defrost off.I hope this will help.

Vitara 1.6 cuts out

Are you quite sure it is not overheating? Your mention of heavy traffic, ie. stop and go, would tell me that your radiator fans are not working. I had a car with bum electric radiator fans. It worked fine if it was moving a lot. But in slow traffic, it would get warm enough to have a vapor lock or something without setting the engine-hot light.
