Well normally there is something you can do. But to my memory you have a shaft drive. There is not alot you can do with that. Belt and chain drive are both very adjustable for this problem.

My eaton fuller transmission wont shift past 5th when it tries to get into 6th gear it just makes a grinding noise

how many gears in this transmission remembering that Eaton make from 5 speeds up to 21 speeds in their range of transmissions
so if you have a 9 speed box and attempt to select 6 gear without using the range change you will be selecting probably first again
Don't assume that everybody knows what box you have so include all make , model year , equipment application in your posts as they are not linked

Chrysler 200 2013 62te transmission with 3.6 V6 P0729 code and nothing else. Replaced oil/filter 2X and solenoid pack. All looks good. What is wrong?

code p 0729 refers to gear 6 --incorrect ratio===causes ---fluid level---wiring---TR( transmission ratio) sensor /switch---shift solenoids---transmission mechanical fault
the box is operational so no need for mechanical failure to figure in the diagnosis
if you never use 6th gear, it is possible that the solenoid may be a bit rust inside or a wire has failed from corrosion
at this point I would be checking wiring , connections and pins are not corroded and then consider the TR sensor / switch replacement

The transmission in that should be a M060S6 and it has 6 forward gears. 6th gear is overdrive with a ratio of .786

How to stop the transmission noise in 5th gear on a 2007 HD Ultra Classic?

The 5th gear noise with the 6 speed is legendary!

1st and 5th are straight cut gears. 2nd,3rd,4th, and 6th are helical cut gears. Straight cut are stronger so Harley put them in the most popular gears.

Some people swear that either Mobil Syn 75/90 or Redline Shockproof 85/140 helps.

Baker transmissions make a F6F kit that has a helical cut gear, and a thicker trapdoor to handle the increased side loading because of it, but it ain't cheap!

I seem to have lost about a level and a half of speed. i.e. speed 3 is like previous speed 2, speed 4 is only at an actual speed between 2-3. all undercarriage is clear, motion drive belt is good

Check and see if your gear select handle linkage has not come out of adjustment and check for worn linkages as well. This can cause the transaxle gear box to lag behind one gear and may not achieve 6 gear when fully placed in 6th gear setting. Hope This Helps.

What is thecross reference for a set of fork that will fit 2000 vmax

Just get yours rebuilt. It is cheaper and more effective than trying ot find something that is the same diameter, length and spring rate. Besides, Vmax's don't go round corners anyway (LOL) If you get yours rebuilt, you can get them set up so the bike will handle better. I hope this helped.

Can i put a 6th gear in my vstar transmission?

Hi, Monte335 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Motor seems to almost scream anywhere over 75 to 80 kms. besides that everything works fine. diagnostic test done shows no problems.

It's not shifting into the right gear. Auto tranny? Check tranny fluid. Contact a reputable transmission mechanic. All good mechanics know and can service transmissions but specialty shops tend to be cheaper and quicker because everything they need to do the job is already set up and waiting. Stop letting it do that until you get it fixed. You'll kill your rig.
