Either the solenoid itself is shot or it's not getting power to the small wire which tells the solenoid to send power to the battery. Check for voltage at the small wire when mashing the starter, if it's good then the solenoid is the culprit

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid relay. You can turn the key on and jump across the big cables lugs on it to see if the starter spins. If it does you can check the hot wire to the solenoid to see if it is getting power with the key on, the other wire goes to your starter button to ground.

Why wont a1997 Seadoo will no turn over ?

Could be a bad ignition switch grounding out the ignition, loose wires, bad ground. If it will not even turn the crankshaft over, then I'd check connections to the battery, to the 'ground', to the block/head/?? and make sure the wires on the back of the ignition switch are snug in place. Does it have an 'occupant' safety switch that will kill the engine if you fall off? That may need to be checked also.

Why after I flipped my seadoo and got water in the motor, it wont stay on without pressing the start button, why? how can I fix this? The seadoo is a 1999 xp

I would say that you shorted out the item on the other end of your start switch due to it working backwards. Check the continuity of the wires from switch & check the switch.

Seadoo

I'm guessing you are talking about a PWC Seadoo. :-)
But you need to check the lanyard switch. There are two wires to the switch, the switch only connects the two when the lanyard is in place. So if you can locate the connector under the hood, just jump the wires together to check the switch wiring.

Note: You can not operated the PWC on the water with the wires jumped, it's against the law.

Have a 97 sportster that wont start just strong click, put in new battery, new ground cable, new positive cable, took green wire off starter jumped it to top and starter spins, could solenoid be shot?

Hi Mikegibso792, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections check negative cable at both ends. (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to on.
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.
7. Security alarm not disarming

I just bought a 98 cbr 600 and was running . now when trying to starte it all i get is a clicking from the selenoid on the front of the battery is that whats wrong or something else . the fuse on it is...

If you push the starter button and the solenoid clicks, the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together. If your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , unless the manufacturer sells replacement parts so you can repair the starter. most manufacturers only sell replacement starter brushes.

My bike wont start on less i push start it. Also it wont idol and shut off if i push the choke in. i need some help.

Do you have a volt/ohm meter? If not, spend the $15.00 and get one. You will need it.

Do you have 12 volts at the battery? At the start solenoid battery side, do you have voltage? Do you get a voltage reading on the starter side of the start solenoid with the kill switch in the RUN position and the start button pressed? Can you jump from battery to the starter and make the starter run? (You can do this by jumping the start solenoid with a heavy wire WITH GLOVES ON!)

Check these couple things out and report back. We will go on from there. Just post a comment to this question to get back to me.

Car won't start battery good won't crank 98 lincoln

you need to find the starter solenoid and jump the two largest posrs with booster cables .if it canks repace the starter.if all your hearing now is a clicking sound you need to jump power to the solenoids start wire,a push on wire on the smaller post of the solenoid ,if it cranks replace the solenoid.if neither makes it crank, repair the grounrd cable or remove the starter and remove the rust from the nose cone and the mounting point.
