One line that comes from the top LH side of carb (looking at carb w/o air cleaner) is a carb vent aprox 1/4 " hose. It connects only to the carb & hangs in a wire bracket as a vent tube. The 1/2 " vent line that goes from the valve cover on the rear cylinder goes to the spigot on the air cleaner case & vents the crankcase gases back into the intake of the carb to be burnt. Those are the only 2 lines other than the fuel line that comes from the metal pipe that crosses over to the fuel pump on the other side of bike. That fuel line connects to the carb metal fuel spigot on the side of the carb. That's fuel into carb.

This sounds like the hose from the tank breather, the hose goes from the tank on the l/h side to the cylindrical vent, then from the other side of the vent the hose goes around the back of the carb and out through the side of the crankcase with a sintered plug in the edn, there is also a hose from the cylinder base, this is the impulse tube and fits to the top of the pump cover of the carb,

There is a vent in the tank, it is situated on the right hand side of the tank, close to where the fuel hose exits the tank, the early vent looks like a round white pellet, the later vent is a white plug with a nipple on the top, the later vent will just pull out with long nose pliers, the early vent has to be extracted useing a self tapping screw, this of course will destroy the vent.

Need a diagram for installing new gas lines on craftsman weed eater model no.358.797101.I wanted to put new lines on but lost my train of thought. The hose ends were leaking due to age.

I don't have a diagram, but I can give you detailed instructions. Hopefully this will get your "train of thought" back on the right track.

The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so.

No gas getting from the gas tank to the carb. replaced hoses and filter already. can not even draw gas with primer button.

You either need a new primer bulb (leaking air) or you have the fuel lines routed wrong. Here is the correct fuel line routing just in case:
Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then pushes any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank.
