Mechanic did not set my timing correct. Not sure if he checked the timing marks on cam and crank prior to removing timing belt. Need to set it correctly. How to get it back to TDC... If I am correct I believe the ford ecort has the same engine... Need help please and than
On the pulley, they are marks that line up with a mark on the head. That is TDC for the cam. Then set the crank to 0 on the timing marks. Put the belt back on.
Does the same procedure apply even when the belt is already off when unsure if the marks were set correcly prior to belt removal...
The problem is the marks will not line up when turning pulley and cam.
The cam pulley should be keyed to the cam shaft. Take the belt off, set the cam pulley to the mark on the head so it aligns with the one on the cam, set the crank pully to TDC and put the belt back on
Are there a number of revolutions to turn before lining up the marks on the crank to get to top dead center?
No, just line it up
