SOURCE: 97 Magna 750 clutch will not engage clutch cable

Shifting between neutral and first gear and back to neutral means nothing other than the slider gear dogs are lined up with first gear.

I would pull the clutch cover and see what is going on. It could be that the actuator mechanism is being held up by dirt or bad linkage. Check and see.

SOURCE: 1991 rm 125 clutch springs torque

The clutch springs are not the problem. Check to see if all parts were installed as shown below. The clutch plates alternate Fiber/steel/fiber/steel, starting and ending with a fiber. Be sure the teeth on the clutch rack are pointing to the rear.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

It is most likey going to have to have the clutch pack replaced. If you have the tools to do this let me know and I can find a manual for you to do it yourself.

125cc Kawasaki dirt bike, cranks on first kick, idles but won't run in any gear, doesn't die out but doesn't seem to engage gear, possible problems?

Does it jerk forward when you put it into gear and die? Or you put it into gear and the bike doesn't move when you let the clutch out? Badly adjusted clutch in both cases. Worst case, you need new clutch plates and springs.

Why wont my tomberlin stay in nuetral

On most motorcycles the shift drum has 2 levers and springs called a detents. One lever and spring(detent #1) holds the drum in nuetral and the second lever and spring(detent #2) holds the transmission in gear each time a gear is selected. The nuetral detent (detent #1) has a notch that it drops into when it is in nuetral only. If the spring for the nuetral detent is bad or the detent lever does not drop into the notch (for whatever reason) the transmission will not stay in nuetral. The detent levers and springs will be located to the outside of the shift drum, normally opposite the shift lever side of the engine and inside the engine cover.
If you can rock the bike back and forth and find nuetral with the engine off but have trouble getting nuetral with the engine running, the problem with finding nuetral is probably clutch related and is not the detent. Clutches that are not fully disengaging will make it hard to find nuetral with the engine running.

Gear change sloppy & false nuetrals on downshift on 2005 yzf R1

Before you overhaul the engine to check the gear shifting drum and the gear forks, remove the right hand engine cover and check the clutch plates and the springs for optimal operation .If everything is ok then you continue with overhauling the engine.
