Adjust carberatoer

Clean the carb jets and passages first with spray carb cleaner and compressed air, then turn the screw in until it bottoms and count the turns to bottom, then turn it out the same number of turns and then fine tune it by making small in or out adjustments of the idle mixture screw,.

How can I set gas/air mix screw?

A good place to start is 2 and a half turns out and play about from there.
Screw the adjuster all the way in to a soft seating. DO NOT force it, just screw it gently until it seats itself gently otherwise you will damage the seat or screw face. Now start unscrewing it counting the turns. I count quarter turns and 10 quarters is 2 and a half.
Fire up the bike and let it warm up and idle. Turn the screw in a quarter and see if it runs better, if it does then this is your base point. If it runs worse, screw it back out a quarter to the original starting point and then screw it out a further quarter. If this is better then that becomes your base point. Basically the base point is the best current setting that you know of. Start working from this base point adjusting and noting the changes until you get the smoothest running. Always write down your settings as you alter them and you will remember where you are. Remember you can always start over again, just don't damage the seating.

Front plug turning black rough ideling ?

If by black you mean sooty then it is running too rich.
Check your air filter, although all plugs would be sooty if it was blocked or restricted.
Try a new plug or swap plugs over to eliminate a dodgy plug. Check coil resistance (primary and secondary) to see if it is not breaking down.
If you can get to the air/fuel adjustment screws do the following:
1. On the properly running plug carefully screw in the adjustment screw until lightly seated. Do not over tighten, just til it seats. As you are doing this count the number of turns you have done. I count a quarter turn as 1, so if it goes in one and a half full turns I will have counted to 6. I find this more accurate than the number of full turns. Now unscrew it the same number of quarter turns and it will be back where you first started.
2. On the screw that adjusts the faulty plug, again count the number of quarter turns to a light seating. Usually it should be the same as the other but not always, although it shouldn't be that far away. Back it off to the same number of quarter turns as the first one was set.
Now try running the bike and see if there is any improvement. If it is worse adjust it back to its original setting.

My B&S power washer won't stay running - it starts then quits almost immediately. It has oil, it's getting air, it's getting spark, I've cleaned the gas tank and fuel fliter, and put in nice fresh...

On the Carb there are usually two needle valves, doing one at a time and carefully counting half turns. Using a small screwdriver start turning clockwise one of the screws in and count how many half turns you turn until tight. Might be 1 1/2 (half turns) to 3 1/2 (half turns) After it is tight reverse the screw and spring and remove it. Blow out the hole with a stray or air pump or wd40 spray can with straw tip. Reinstall until tight then open the amount of half turn you recorded. Do the same with the other needle valve.

How many turns out on aiir screw

Hi. Normally to set any air screw, you will have to screw it in completely, and then start unscrewing it, counting the number of turns. To set, screw it back in, half the number of total turns. So if you counted 16 turns until the screw comes out of the thread, screw it back 8 turns. Hope this helps

2005 suzuki wont stay running, i had just bought it and it will start but putt around but cant reach high rpms. does the carburetor need to be cleaned?

Yes
Remove the carb from the bike.
Completely disassemble the carb
Soak all jets, needles, springs, screws and carb body in a carb solution overnight.
Do Not soak any o-rings or the float. Clean the float with a brush, and replace the o-rings if they are flat.
Rinse with water and then blow everything out with compressed air.
Make sure you can see through the jets and the small holes on the side of the jets.
Make sure you blow through every hole in the carb body.
Reassemble carb, mount on bike.
It will run like new again.

NOTE: When removing the air/fuel mixture screw, turn it in(clockwise) until it stops and STOP turning, Do Not try to tighten any further.
Count the number of turns it took to stop. Write it down so you dont forget overnight. Remove it for cleaning.
When you reassemble the carb, turn the air/fuel mixture screw in until it stops.
Now turn it out(counterclockwise) the number of turn you counted.
If your not sure turn it out 2 turns.

Kia ora my 4x4 quad bayou spark plug black not much spark wont start like no petrol getting in engine carby all good firstly cutting out then start no problem now wont start

Sounds like it is running too rich therefore causing sooting (Black) this will inhibit the spark from igniting the fuel as you need a 14.7/1 air/fuel mix. Suggest you screw in the air screw and count turns, it should be 1 1/2 to 2 turns. Unscrew it back by that amount of turns if you don't have a manual to check?

Also check the air intake is not blocked
