There are 4 units on that bike and i beleive in that year it was all fuel injection. If you dont have to remove them (throttle bodies), then i wouldnt. Use a heavy duty (concentrated) fuel system cleaner or seafoam. If that doesnt cure your problem then consider removing the throttle boddies and/or injectors.

HARD TO START WON'T REV ACTS LIKE CHOKING OUT

Your problem could be a simple carburater adjustment. Air fuel mixture may be off. There may be adjustment screws on the side of carburater, adjust they slightly to see if this fixes it. If not the carburater itself may be dirty and need to be taken apart and cleaned. Hope this helps.

After starting, I lower the choke and it stalls

It is starving for fuel. The carburater is plug or dirty inside. You will need to take it apart and clean it or a rebuilt kit. Take the carburater bowl off. If you see any debris in the bowl or water. The carb is definitely contaminated and must be cleaned. Also check to be sure the fuel tank is clean and no water in it. Hope this cures your problem.

1974 kawasaki 900Z1 carburater bowl over flow spilling gas

The float is either not closing fully due to a bit of trash preventing it from fully sealing or the float is stuck open. Another possibility is that the float has a pinhole in it and no longer floats. Remove the float when you clean the carb then check it. It should be light as a feather and have nothing but air inside it. If the float is bad, it looks like Babbitt's has them. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Sounds like you have some dirty carburators, if the bike has been sitting likely your carbs are all gummed up, they should be removed and properly cleaned.

    Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If all 4 have sparks and 1 cylinder is colder than the others, then it would be fuel starvation on that cylinder. Almost always, it would be a carb problem. The carbs would need to be pulled down, stripped & dis-assembled and all non-rubber parts soaked in carb cleaner. Particular attention/cleaning to the jets and all the small / pin holes. Note the number of turns on the air pilot screw. Ensure float works on all specially the one for the cylinder that is cold.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
