You should hear the fuel pump run momentarily when the key is in the Run position. Ensure the engine has a good spark by removing one of spark plug boots. Stick a phillips screwdriver in the boot, and hold the handle of the screwdriver, and allow the shaft near ground. (motor works best) Have someone crank the engine and look for a good blue spark arch from the screwdriver and engine. If your getting good spark, then check the fuel pressure on the fuel injection rail.

SOURCE: Truck Won't Start At All

before replacing the starter get a volt meter and test the voltage coming out of the voltage regulator which the power comes from the battery to the regulator down to the starter also make sure all wires on the starter are clean and what I mean is from rust because I had an f150 that did the same thing

Replaced battery. still would not start. Cleaned treminal of all corrision. cranked fine. however 1 day later would not start. jump started . drove a couple of miles but when I turned on lights, engine...

Sounds like a bad alternator. Drained your battery and when you turned on the lights it took all the power left in your battery. When you drain a battery down that far, they are real hard to jump, and coupled with the alternator, the car is not producing enough current to start and stay running.

I would take the alternator off and take it to oyur local auto parts store to be tested. If bad, replace it and charge the battery fully before starting. Then check voltage at battery with motor running. Should be 13.2 -14 Volts DC. If not, you may have a bad battery cable or blown fusible link. (especially that if the alternator tests good).....Mike

Just had a NEW alternator professionally installed in my 2000 Ford Explorer XLT 6 cylinder 4.0 OHC. The battery does not receive a charge. I shorted out the old alternator with a direct short to ground....

check your fuses for charge/alt.. maybe just blew a fuse, i think there may be 2 boxes under hood and one in pass compartment.. check all connections on terminals and clean all to eliminate that being an issue...

2000 ford explorer starts fine for 3/4 days then won't start let sit for 24 hrs starts fine not battery mechanic telling me starter someone suggested to change eec relay help with a suggestion or opinion

If your starter don't do anything (crank) like a dead battery, then its going to be your starter, if it cranks but don't start the engine, then it could be your eec relay.

2000 Blazer Cranks, Won't Start

First of all, a diagnostic wont tell them that there is arcing involved. I am thinking it is your crank sensor. It expands and retracts in different weather situations. It should make contact in all weather situations.

2 things
1 starter is bad its located on the driver side of the engine beside the oil pan. 3 bolts and 2 electrical connections

2 bad battery cables. i have replaced a lot of battery cables on these they let enough power through to get a click but not enough to start the engine. this cable is a special cable only available through ford or you can make 1 yourself

Charging system

change your battery cables and check all wires on the alternator for loose connections, expecially the grounds.
