What kind of bike? It sounds like maybe the kill switch is either stuck or there is a loose connection somewhere. My cbr does it from time to time, but if I switch the handlebars back and forth holding the start switch it'll fire over, either that or you might have a bad connection between the wires and the ignition relay, check your power going to the cdi box and voltage regulator, and double check the ignition fuses for power whe the key is on

Testimonial: "The bike is a suzuki ge 1000. I put all new fuses in again but still doesn't catch just spins over. The bike has always been hard starting I have tried wiggling wires but now I still don't have nothing for electricals I'll try taking apart the kill switch again but if I cross cylinoid it will turn over but I have no ignition or juice to any thing I was thinking rectifier. I am dis a led with heart problems and not supposed to be working with electricals because of pacemaker and defibrillator. Because of disability payment being what they are I can't afford a lot buying parts is difficult for me. I had bikes all of my life but never have been much of a mechanic.i don't have much time left if they don't find me another heart I just miss having my face in the wind. I have owned Harley's, baa,s Hondas, nor tons, and now this suzuki. Thank you for your response. I will give your suggestions a try. Have a great weekend."

2013 Honda VRF 800 will not start

Hi, Deborah before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. Faulty ignition relay.
14. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
15. Check for engine trouble codes.

Sym joyride 200i starts after 10 min cranking in the morning rest of the day starts perfect EFI light flashing continiously

Hi, Kevin it should be noted that the reasons EFI lights constant or flashing, will or will not start, turns over or not conditions varies from the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work or event IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying bike down/crashes, rainstorms/bike washings just before EFI light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin, also carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes to reduce the risk of being stranded or towed, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets. For more information about your issue and valuable free downloads that you will need please visit the websites below. Good luck and have a nice day.
