SOURCE: I have a yamaha

Check that the intake manifold is not cracked or separated, extra air might cause you to need the choke. Some times the first carburetor cleaning does not do the trick. Take the carburetor off again, take out the slow jet, and shoot through it with cleaner to make sure it is clear. Now shoot through the passageway of the body and make sure that the body of the carburetor is clear . When all passageways in the body are clear then reassemble and put it back on. If the air screw is set correctly you should have a machine that idles.

How to install choke cable on 400 Kodiak atv ?

Your information is on the ATV Forum

Throttle cable: remove the 3 screws on the right side of the carb, take off the cover, there is small rubber gasket (red) Don't lose it. you'll see the cable attached inside. move the mechanism forward like you're opening the throttle to get enough slack to unhook the cable.

Choke: on the other side of the carb, the choke cable screws in with a plastic nut (10 mm i think) unscrew with your hand, if its tight use pliers or wrench..its easy to unscrew it.

Kodiak wont start

Run a compression test (3-5 seconds) , with throttle closed, then repeat with throttle open. Should be around 100 psi closed and 125+ with it open. This will give you more direction.

Mikuni carb stuck in full throttle. Everything's

Most modern Yamaha bikes have a throttle "Push-Pull" system. You may need to make sure that the "push" cable is actually set up correctly. Your manual will tell you the exact slack required on both cables. Without both cables operating your carb will not be able to close.

I have a yamaha kodiak 4x4 400. Rebuilt the carb, new plug, etc. Problem was it would only run on full choke. Problem still persists. Carb is getting fuel fine. Not sure what else to do.

Engine will not idle when warm, hard to start

There is one screw that adjusts the revs, you can increase the engine revs and it should solve the idling problem.Be careful as there may be one for air mixture which could look similar..make sure you adjust the one for the revs only.If this does not solve your problem then let us know.

yea if your sitting on it there should be a plastic screw on the carburetor that runs to the other side you can adjust it with your hand as it is big enough to turn by hand have it running and adjust it to your liking
