Why won't my Peace mini chopper start?

I have replaced, carburetor, changed oil, cleaned gas tank, new gas filter, new air filter. Motor is cranking but will not start up. I bought bike second hand, don't know what someone have done to it. I need advice

You forgot to check your spark! check your spark plug by direct replacement

Not too hard to get the excess oil out. Easiest way is to tip the bike on its side with the oil fill bung out, and drain off some of the excess via there.  The only other way to do it is drop the oil entirely and start again with fresh oil(dont reuse it even though it is new). Gets really messy trying to put the sump drain bung back in with oil pouring everywhere. You also stand the risk of getting dirt into the engine, so i Dont recommend draining off the excess from underneath.   Dont run the bike with excess oil. The site glass is fitted from the inside of the casing, and is rather hard to clean. They get dirty from a build up of clutch friction material settling on the glass. You have to strip the motor down completely to do that. Hope that helps you solve your problem. Happy to answer any questions you may have. IF you have a battery get a new one ; put in new gas ; super; dsid you ajest any screws on carb. You tight need to run a prime tank right to your carb to prime it; and then hook your tank backup new gas lines to your carb. Now break out with the WD40 to spray all switches for rust.

Most fuel injected motorcycles do start up in a "fast idle" mode. Although I don't know much about fuel injection on Harleys (H-D will not tell you much about it unles you are one of their technicians), I don't think the system is equipped with an engine temp sensor. Since the crank case sensor get it's pulses from pockets cut into the outer edge of the left side flywheel half, the sensor will have oil on it.

First, you need a good battery. The bike does have electronic ignition. Soak the carbs in denatured alcohol for two hours after removing the float bowls, then clean with spray cleaner. Spray into every large and small hole you can find. Remove the rubber diaphragm from the center of carb prior to cleaning. New diaphragms are $196 each. Check all fuses. Put in new spark plugs, NGK-BP7ES. Clean the air filter. Get a can of spray starter fluid and spray on the air filter. The rubber mounts for the carbs are likely to be a problem once it gets running. It looks like they are still available at Babbitt's, $53 each. If un-carburetored air can get into the joints it will lean the fuel mix and cause uncontrollable high idle.

Before you sink a lot of money into the bike, check for spark. If spark is present, coast the bike down a good sized hill without any spark plugs being installed. Put the bike in 3rd gear as you go downhill then let the clutch out to turn the engine over. Now ( using the clutch lever ), shift through all the gears then neutral. If the bike will not shift properly it likely has a bent shift fork. I can't find any forks avaiable. With a bad tranny I would put it back in the dirt floor building and find a newer bike. My craftsman weedwacker 27cc curved shaft wont start and cant figure it out


I need to ask. Did you leave fuel mix in it for a long time? If so then the carburetor will need to be cleaned with a special cleaner. and not the spray can stuff.

Check carburetor & air filter. Clean off all dirt and clean air filter. check age of gas. Cannot be more than 30 days old. Make sure to use fresh gas w/synthetic 2-cycle oil @ 40:1 ratio (1 gal.) Gas to 3.2 oz. Oil). Do not use old or stale oil/gas mixture. Before putting in fresh fuel, press the primer several times. A small amount of gas might show up in the fuel tank. Remove fuel. With carburetor cleaner, spray carburetor. Put in small amount of fresh fuel. Just enough to cover the fuel filter. Then press primer with fuel cap off, and watch to see if fuel is flowing smoothly. If not or if plastic primer bubble does not come back to original shape after pressing, then you have to take carburetor apart and clean or get new carburetor.

I have a guardian 15000 generator. Have not used it in a couple of years. New battery and gas and attempted to start it and it will crank, start, then immediately die. Need help. Storm approaching...


Hello, I tried to answer this problem you had a few days ago. You were worried the hurricane was come and your generator wouldn't start. I tried to post the answer but Quest has the slowest servers were work properly. To many customers and not updated servers. Anyway I hope this help you out.


First, replace the fuel filter. When taking out the fuel filter let the gas in the run into a can. This will help to remove any sediment in the fuel tank. Buy a couple of fuel filters. One problem is it where you live. Condensation builds up in the fuel tank and this create rust. When the hurricane is over. Remove the fuel tank, and have it cleaned out. Now, see if they can line the fuel tank inside with a plastic coating. This will stop the rust. Also, insert absorbents packs in the tank when the generator is idle. This will will help the moisture build up.


Second, change the oil and remove the oil pressure shut off sensor and clean it or replace it.
If it has a temperature sensor take it out and clean it. If it has a oil filter change it also.


Third, remove the spark and clean it or replace it. Make sure you have the right plug gap on the spark plug..

Fifth, use some carburetor cleaner and spray around the throttle place and choke plate and make sure that the governor arm to the carburetor is free to operate and everything in the carburetor is working freely.

Fourth, remove the air filter and clean it or replace it.

Sixth, remove all the fuel in the tank and filter the fuel with a couple pair of your wife's pantie hose.
Be really careful, gasoline is extremely explosive.

Seventh, remove the fitting from the tank and use compressed air to clean out the tank. You might think I'm going to far here. Once you think the tank is clean install all the brass fitting and hose and new filters and pour the filter gas back into the tank. as long as it is new gas, if it's fuel old depose of the old fuel.

Next, Never used starting fluid on gas engines. If you get to much starter fluid in the combustion camber it can explode and blow the head off or nock the top of piston off destroying the engine. You and your family be safe. GB you all....stewbison

There is oil and gas coming out of the carburetor. What is the problem?


The oil coming out of your carburetor is coming from your crank case. Either you have a stuck float, a stuck float needle, dirt in your carburetor, or you have a vacuum style petcock with a leaking diaphragm. Take apart and clean your carburetor. Drain your tank , take apart and inspect your fuel petcock. If the diaphragm is bad repair it with a K&L rebuild kit or put on a new petcock. Inspect your air filter if it is saturated with oil replace it and drain the excess fluid out of the air box. Also check your engine oil, if your crankcase is too full (gas/oil mixture) you will need to change your oil before running the engine.

Bought unit new last summer. Used it once last summer and once this year. It started fine both times. Today, it will not crank. I have replaced the spark plug, checked the air filter (it is clean), gas...


Unable to crank? Do you mean unable to start?

If you leave gasoline inside tank over long period of time, that will 'gum-up' and ruin carburetor.
To prevent problem, put additive in gasoline or empty gas from tank:: under gas tank should be a hex bolt that holds up gas filter > loosen bolt and drain gas.

Starting the engine:
Take off air filter and spray WD-40 directly into carburetor.
Start engine, engine should fire on the WD-40 accelerant.
If engine fires but does not keep running, try spraying WD-40 into carburetor continuously to see if you can keep engine going.
If engine stops each time after it no longer gets WD-40, then carburetor is bad or gasoline not getting to carburetor or gasoline is bad.
Try fresh gasoline.
Do not turn small engine on side or upside down or oil will get into carburetor.

Check gas supply: Go to gas filter under gas tank. Pull loose rubber hose that connects to carburetor and see if gas comes out rubber hose.
If gas is flowing to carburetor, then carburetor is gummed up.
Small engine repair might suggest 'gum out' or have other suggestions ... but you may need a new carburetor

If engine will not fire on WD-40
If engine will not fire on WD-40 at all, then spark coil may be bad or exhaust port is clogged
Check screen that covers exhaust >> is it covered with carbon and dirt or can air pass through it easily?
Check spark
Remove spark plug
Put spark wire back on spark plug
Hold spark plug by rubber spark cap so hands don't touch metal part of spark plug
Touch spark plug threads against hole where spark plug was removed >>> metal to metal so it conducts electricity
Pull start cord and look for sparking between spark plug threads and metal of engine (don't look at the spark gap ... look where metal meets metal
If you have no spark, the spark coil is bad >> time for estimate from small engine repair shop or get your part number and order replacement

check gas tank with light is there dirt in tank? did you change fuel filter? is there spark at the spark plug? try a 2 second spurt of starting fluid in carburetor and crank does it fire?if it does then you most likely need to clean carburetor with carburetor cleaning spray, flush fuel lines with spray and swap fuel filter.

Probably some kind of fuel supply problem. You may have an inline filter between the tank and the carburetor. That filter could be pugged.

Also if the mower has been sitting for a coating sometimes called 'varnish" can develop on the jets in the carburetor. If the mower is starting its getting fuel flow..... if it won't stay running its because the fuel supply stopped
