What causes large gas stream to shoot up through carberator

Try starting the mower with gas cap removed (be careful as there may be some gas spillage or splash), if the mower runs OK it means the vent holes in cap are plugged, cap should be replaced. If mowere does not run OK probable cause may be dirt or contaminates in carberator and needs rebuilt or cleaned.

check for spark at plug if so shoot some starting fluid in it if it starts need to rebuild carberator

put machine in neutral pull the chock all the way out put throttle full open push in brake pedel all the way turn your key switch to start it if it hasnt run in a long time probably need to rebuild the carb if donsnt start try sqiurting some starting in the carb if it starts and dies it means carberator needs rebuilt you try to star it again this time before it dies keep it running with starting fluid just shoot short squirts in carb to keep it running do this for only 2 minutes if you keep doing it you will damage motor try that and see if it will run

the fuel pump is driven by vacuum from the engine so it could just be a bad pump

replace the needle and seat in the carb

are you getting spark?was the gas you put in newer than 30 days old?

did you leave or use gas from last year? drain it and try fresh gas if not take the carb apart and clean it

If you store this machine outdoors than you might have a little water in the system, otherwise give the carb a good cleaning.

Ok, so your not getting gas to carberator, or thru the carberator. Disconnect gas line from carberator, if gas is present thru fuel line, you have a carberator problem. Your rather meger with your mower information so this is all i can tell you. Wish i could be of more help.

You have a fuel problem. Fuel filter clogged? Carbuerator may need cleaning. Is there a hidden fuel shutoff valve? I have left mine closed... it is embarassing but it happens. I assume you put the choke on initially...
