How do i fix or solve this problem with my oil pressure light showing this malfunction and what could be the problem

check the engine for an oil pressure sensor to report on low oil level
that will also put on the oil light if you have one

you need to have the oil pressure checked by using a mechanical oil pressure gauge
that will determine if it is a pump problem or an oil gauge sender unit
changing the oil will not fix the problem
you should be doing oil and filter changes every 10,000 miles and then that oil change suggestion would not figure in the problem
your problem is either mechanical or electrical but you need to determine which before you damage the engine

Low oil pressure has little to do with oil level. The best is to take it to a service agent to have the oil pressure checked. It is very possible that you have a faulty pressure switch, and just changing the switch will solve the problem, but if you have an oil pump problem, causing low pressure, you have a major problem. Have it checked.

If you find the problem with the light, it may solve your shutting off problem. Does it show the oil pressure on a digital read out? If so, is it reading 0? I would start by changing the oil pressure sensor. I have done two of these on the same car(it is a common problem). If that doesn't fix it, at least you have eliminated that possible problem.

Have it check with a maunel oil gauge for oil pressure, or bad oil pressure switch.

2 things i would do professionally first. 1. change the oil using a higher weight and a volvo oil filter(there is a difference) 2. have a "wet" gauge installed at the oil pressure sending unit to verify oil pressure from cold to warm. a "wet" gauge is a gauge that reads actuall oil pressure and not the use of electronics. it is usually very acurate. if the oilp pressure still drops, then you are looking at an oil pump issue most likely.

HI, the oil pressure sending unit may be malfunctioning at this point. this will cause erratic readings. if your oil level is proper and there are no apparent oil leaks, you will need to replace the oil pressure sending unit. this will fix the erratic oil pressure readings.

Concerning the gas gauge. this device also has a sending unit that sends the correct fuel level reading to the gas gauge via wire transfer. this sending unit is located and attached to the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank. replacing this device will fix this issue as well.

Oil sending unit bad. Replace.

Oils in long over due service forms **** which can't be circulated properly under normal oil pump pressure causing Crank shaft or cam shaft bearing recieve the lubricant quite late. The said bearings could be damaged.

For the light, the oil pressure switch could have accummulated some **** which is making it malfunction.
