I have the same bike, but never ran sea foam in it but ill tell ya when i put sea foam in my mustang it blew black smoke for a good while, but i thinks its normal for it to do that, i would run it for a while to get all that sea foam out of there, as far as the idle being rough what do you mean, cause mine idles funny too, but i was told its normal for it to be idleing like that. Man i hope i help you out some. You wouldnt know the size of the fuel line is would ya??

4700 not a lot of miles. This motorcycle needs to run. It will be rough until you can get the carb cleaned. I would keep doing what you have been doing for a while. After a couple hundred miles if it doesn't improve, you might want to consider having the Harley shop give it a good tune up. Check the plugs ...

The trans lube is the same as the primary lube. As long as the primary fluid is touching the bottom of the clutch basket with the bike sitting upright, you are good. You will have to remove the clutch (derby) cover on the primary cover to check the oil level.

We got a harley sposter 1200 2005 , its running rich . at idle the rpm goes up and down , also its smoking through the pipes , black smoke

It's time to service the carb. You've got raw fuel getting into the carb when it's not supposed to be. You've got either something causing the fuel level in the float bowl to be too high or you've got a bad accellerator pump diaphragm. The latter is the most likely. When the diaphragm gets a hole in it, it allows fuel to slowly dribble into the throat of the carb through the little brass 'squirter' causing your problem. Check your accellerator diaphragm.

1998 Sportster XLH 1200 seems too smoky. Carb, including jets were checked - ok. Not visible smoke, but just gives rider that exhaust smell even after short trips. 14 k miles and recently serviced. Is this...

Is this a recent development? Or has it always left that smell? I had an older Sporty, that I ran too rich for years, it left lots of black soot on the inside of the exhaust tips, and a very pungent exhaust smell on your person. When I went down a couple jet sizes, it got much nicer, and ran a little better as well.

Unable to locate fuses on a 2001 Sportster 1200??

look behind the panel on the left side by the battery. pull the fuse holder down. realease the little clip and tug it downwards. It sits in grooves and the body of the fuse block just slides up and down.
