Question about 2003 Honda CRF 150 F

Honda CRF150F will not start

The bike had been waterlogged and the engine blew up. I had the engine rebuilt, then there was no spark. So I had the Ignition Control Module, Ignition Coil, and the stator replaced. I now have spark but it still doesn't want to start. There has been nothing done with the carburator, maybe there is something wrong there. What do I do next? Any ideas.

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Flush out the gas tank if needed.

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Post a comment to get back to me.

Hey the exact thing happend to my best friend and believe it or not he replaced the rev box and it it runs like a champ he even replaced everything you did so try a new rev box

2003 CRF150f that I can't get started.


As long as you have spark and compression i would go back to the carb and pull the low speed jet out make sure it is clear and also the passage way its in this is the most common problem if a bike sits for some time the gas tends to gel and the tiny jet will easily clog up make sure its clear or the bike just wot run correctly at all.

How to start a honda crf150f in cold weather


The way I start any of my bikes in cold weather is turn on the choke and once its turned on and run for 1 minute or so turn it off and warm your bike up. For the first few mins of riding don't go too extreme, since the cold air can cool your bike down quickly.

My 2003 crf150f is not gettimg no spark from the coil everything else gets fire but the coil what could it be.


you need to use multi meter to test resistance readings from the stator your owner manual or bike shop can tell you what readings are within spec for each source on the stator but from what your saying and the age of bike almost definitely would be stator related
stator would normally have 2 or 3 sources of power or alternatively called tappings of the one stator my guess is when you test it with meter (OHMS) readings you will find at least one of the source power being out of spec and pretty much if any of the tappings or sources are out of spec you will not get bike to start from kick over - you will have weak spark or no spark!
any bike shop should be able to test the resistances for you if you dont have multi meter

Call around some local dealers or parts places, especially ones that are into racing. They should be set up to ship your shock out to a good suspension company. "Factory Connection, C-Cycle, W.E.R, to name a few"

no my friend the rebuilt distributer is find, the ignition coil is on the engine block, that is what send sparks to the plugs, may be that is weak

i dont think its rev box.(rev box just keeps engine from reving over a certain rpm) could be bad gas or water in gas, also have you checked those valve clearances lately?? 0.003--0.004 on filler gage

Whats the spark plug gap for a 2004 honda crf150f . i added a new spark plug but the gap might be wrong. but when i go to kick start it it seems to have less compression.


Less compression has nothing to do with the spark plug unless it is not tight on...As a rule the gap should be enough for a saw blade.Hope this gives you an idea...

No spark


I too have a 1087 Honda Shadow and after we rebuilt, cleaned and painted the bike, it would not spark.

Behind the battery, check the CDI box. Look inside and shake upside down, looking for the presence of water. Once we completley dried out the unit. The bike runs like a champ.

the other day I rode in the rain for 160 miles. Engine died. Went to the CDI, water was there. Dried it out and again the bike runs fine. I am going to seal my cdi unit now. and hopefully the problem will not come back.
