My 2007 kia cerato deisel speedometer stopped working, is there a common fix for this , are they fitted with speed sensors or cables im just a baffled pensioner can anybody help
you meant Sorento, right>? or i tell you wrong.
speedo and Odometer dead? a key point. in most cars.
check all fuses first , those facts are in the glove box opr. guide.
RTM on fuses
alldata.com $15 to look in the FSM for 30days.
is that too much? $$, say so and ill look for you. ok I did... just now.
keep in mind most cars 2007 an newer are NASA level complexity ,looks like MIL equipment i cut teeth on..
(things talk to each other, and diagnosis can be complex with out the factory scan tools. (CAN bus tools)
btw, im retired too. retired, electronics, tech.
did you know most pub. libraries have this books or esources?
you can go to mitchells fantastic service for free in my LIB.
diesel. wow. ESP, wow2,seat warmers, and 100s of pages on electrics. vast complexity,
IM ONLINE NOW>looking at your dash drawings.
7 pages just on the cluster
ok on page 5 is the MICOM unit, its in the dash, l/P cluster
and is has a Hall sensor called a speed sensor.
this device sends speed to many places not just the dash
to PCM , to A/C controls (cruise)
there IS no CABLE, those were Olden days.
so which is bad.?
easy
scan car moving or with one drive tire off pavement, in drive.
use the scan tool see if MPH reads right. (test 1) afterfuses.
if reads right , the HALL sensor is working.
if not its bad.
Any scan tool works, even a $7 scan tool to see RPM, and SPEED
and all std, scan data.
if the HALL speed sensor reads right scanned then the IP gauge
is bad, the Micom unit and im sure that $$$ to fix.
my guess, is you are flummoxed now.?
it can be wire fell off, or corrision in any connector related to that HALL sensor. btw 2 the sensor is on the drive axle to measure
tire RPM, and coverts that to MPH.
